I had no idea how much color diversity prog rock and prog metal have until I made a King's X station (they have 1 black member). I kept wondering how long will I listen before something like King's X gets played, and it didn't come until I made a King's X station and then that station played plenty racially diverse music. I would like to hear more of this sort of diversity by selecting prog rock and prog metal stations on mine, but it seems like its all music stations select consist of white musicians. I feel like that isn't a healthy mix. Please don't select the mix according to skin color.

Seems like a good idea. Might make for a good freeware program to have a playlist converter. For example, I have a blog, and often I want to show a picture for my blog. This means I have to use a 3rd party website to do my dirty work. First, I make the picture in Chrome's spreadsheet program. Then, I save it as a PDF in Chrome's word processor program. Then, I go to a PDF converter page, crop it, and turn it into a JPEG file. Next, I download it to my computer. Then, I put it in the blog so that when I share it, that picture comes up on Facebook in the share. And next, I share it on Twitter, I have to upload the picture to my post. (All this is for no profit. I love music and my blog is a labor of love.) But you see how much I have to do to, and it would be nice if there was a computer program that could just simplify everything by drag and drop; I have this, make it into what I want. I can't imagine there is no computer file used for specific playlists, so it should be possible.

First, you need to know if you have BlueTooth. I have a Chromebook, and for me if I hover and click the bottom right corner of my screen, I can get to a menu with BlueTooth, but it's not that simple because while my last laptop pretty much said the same thing if I took it to the car, which also recognized the BlueTooth signal there was some sort of compatibility issue. I now have a newer laptop, but have yet to try it. My son has also tried BlueTooth in the car and it works though not well at all; could be the car, could be the phone, could be both. And, lastly my wife uses it without any problems, and to top it off she also can't figure out why it doesn't work on my old laptop.

The playlist is not a solution. I don't want to spend the time entering 1,000+ songs which would probably take enough time that by then Pandora will have come up with a better solution such as adding all of an artists songs or entry of entire albums.

Essentially, what I want is a station that operates like a playlist, but with shuffle. I want to be able to keep track of my listening hours first and I really have no desire to listen to the songs in the same order.

I have done some work and trimming. Is there a better way to go about doing this to get a better result? I haven't even listened, but it seems like you know what to do to get a better mix, so that is why I'm asking. I have made additional changes to my Dream Theater station. I got rid of Frameshift, and Planet X. Hopefully, just liking James LaBrie will give my artist search access to Frameshift, the same for Derek Sherinian and Planet X. I also added Sons of Apollo which has Derek Sherinian, and Mike Portnoy, who is another former member of Dream Theater, and is member of the recently added Winery Dogs. I added Liquid Trio Experiment that has 2 Dream Theater members, and hopefully that will mean I won’t have to seed Liquid Tension Experiment, which is another similar Dream Theater band. I also added Platypus which has Derek Sherinian and John Myung, Dream Theater’s bassist, and hopefully that will give me access to the similar band The Jelly Jam, which also has John Myung and very similar sound. I also added 1 song off 6 live Dream Theater albums to give Pandora the idea that I prefer to listen to Dream Theater live albums, because I have long listened to their studio work. Hearing the same old same old studio work is not what I want for the most part, and it does seem like Pandora is catching on to that. Also, if I hear a non-Dream Theater band such as Mr. Big, which has the bassist of Sons of Apollo, and The Winery Dogs; I don’t mind. The same is true for Fates Warning’s singer, who actually opted out of singing for the band, but does appear on OSI along with Mike Portnoy, which I have used as a seed. The same is true for Spock's Beard, whose singer appears on Transatlantic albums with Mike Portnoy. I am also pretty sure he sings on Chroma Key, a band which has Kevin Moore, who is a former Dream Theater keyboardist. Is there anything I can do to get guest appearances though? I really want to hear songs off of Working Man, which is a Rush tribute album, Explorer’s Club, a Queen Tribute, John Petrucci’s solo album, many more, and of course Shadow Gallery, Ayreon, and Fates Warning. As you can see I’m a Dream Theater junkie...lol! I’m in my 40s and have been listening to them since 8th grade.

That is not the answer I would have expected because some of my stations have hundreds of seeds. I kept adding new seeds because it wasn't mixing in my seeds. Even using the Deep Cuts function still produced songs that I wanted to hear less of, so lately what I had been using was the "I'm tired of this button" for maybe 50 or so songs and eventually I have been able to get a much better mix by doing that. I'm giving it a try. I reduced the seeds to only 14 artists and no songs, but I want to hear all those artists because at some time in their career each contains 1 or more musicians that have played in Dream Theater. I feel like the best way Pandora could help is through adding the musicians I want to listen to instead of Artists and Songs. That would limit the list to 9 seeds instead of my truncated list of 14, which deleted Shadow Gallery, Fates Warning, and Ayreon, and really that is just the beginning to the amount of other Artists and Songs they appear on. Glad you stopped me because I was still considering the Songs part and much of the band part to be a very unfinished list of seeds.

I'm not sure. For example, I have made seeds for my Dream Theater Station, a station that I already love, but when I do Artist only it doesn't seem to want to play my music that where a Dream Theater singer has made a guest appearance, such as in the band Fates Warning, and Ayreon. These songs have been seeded, but they don't seem to play using the Artist Only button. For example, those seeds are there because I want to listen to the artist James LaBrie of Dream Theater. I could be wrong and that everything will play. I am also very happy to see other James LaBrie side projects bands play. I try to remember what I give thumbs up, but I may be forgetting, or maybe I simply haven't waited long enough, as the footprint Dream Theater related musicians have made is massive. I talk about this in other ideas of mine, which would allow users to keep better track of what they have listened to and what they have thumbed. Enabling me to keep track more easily would help me manage stations better.

I totally agree. I often make bands' seeds because I haven't heard them before and want to listen. When it comes to rock these days, apparently almost all of the children scream. Sometimes, I want to hear bands that don't scream and I was recommended to enter specific tracks, but many times I have no clue what I'm getting into when I check out an artist. Track what? I don't know it yet. I feel like rock is dying, and I'm looking for good new bands that don't scream. It seems like there should be a way to correct Pandora if they misunderstand your taste. I almost always hate screaming, and I'm told that there is no button I can press to stop or even toggle it. I think any parent can sympathize with that if they have raised a baby. It would be nice to be able to enter no screaming vocals or as in your case, no vocals at all. I feel like Pandora should work with me in taste, and that means being able to tell them what I like in addition to Pandora taking into account what they think I like.

Under "Now playing,"I love the Artist Only button. However, I want to have an additional Seeds Only button where only the station seeds of a station are played.

I don't like being shouted at by naughty children. Is there any way I can tell Pandora that I don't like this? Practically every day that I listen to Pandora I feel like I have to repeat myself that I don't want to listen to music with singers that shout at me. A little vocal rasp is fine, but how do I tell Pandora to nix listening to any children that sound like "Cookie Monster?" I have listened to Pandora now since 2014, and still it is the same thing. I want to hear rock, or heavy rock, but Pandora keeps feeding me a daily dose of Cookie Monster. Stop it already!

It has been a while. My profile hasn't changed. I still seem to have no badges when I should have many. Has Pandora forgot about my issue? Is the fix still in the works or has it been forgotten?

If you look at my profile, there are a few attempts to suggest new ways of doing the mix, and a few complaints that the ability is not there. Perhaps, I need to negate that, and really give the "I'm tired of this song (selection)," a significant try. Sure there might be the drawback that for a while I will be doing quite a bit of music baby sitting, but I'm practically always music baby sitting because now my wife is home because it is illegal for her to work given that COVID-19 is going around, such that she really doesn't want to hear the stereo now that she is back home for a while. For her sake, I'm using my laptop and headphones, so as I use the computer I can just - I'm tired of this song - until my heart is content, and see what comes of it because I no longer have a problem of not being able to operate the stereo to a remote origin. Generally, I don't prefer headphones, but luckily March also saw the birthday of my son, meaning he got new headphones, and I got his old ones. My new hand-me-down headphones are significantly better, such that using them isn't so annoying, and sounds about as good as my Bose stereo output, except I can use them on the laptop. And, a part the reason for my original confusion might be that the skip button actually means anything more than skip the song. However, after writing a bunch, I'm just going to get to it and start using the I'm tired of this track feature until I'm happy with my mix. And, if I don't get happy, then maybe I will go back to complaining. lol!

My latest project is to get my power metal station (bands like: Blind Guardian, MasterPlan, and Delain) to mix with glam metal (bands like: Tesla, Steelheart, and Bon Jovi). They seem similar enough in my mind, especially if mixed with bands like Skid Row, Judas Priest, and Motley Crue that might help bridge the gap. But, I think there might be bands that won't mix, such as bands like: Nevermore, Iced Earth, and Symphony X, but there I don't think it is that these musics don't mix. Rather, it is effects like compression that the bands these are overusing.

I like this idea. I just posted a rather lengthy comment on what I see as similar to this feed. You might be interested in the thread, which is also in the "Feature Requests" part. The title in the thread is under the heading: "Song Repeat Control."

I made a station of guitarists that use Floyd Rose tremolo, and Doogie White’s band came, though Doogie is a singer. I thought Doogie sounded a lot like Mark Boals on vocals for whom I have much respect. Lapse of Reason by Ring of Fire with Boals is a treasure chest of great music, and check out You Were There. Those names are almost a parody to Pink Floyd, and Johnny Cash, but I don't think any fans were stolen. Years ago when I found Ring of Fire it took forever to find because of all the many many hits for Lake of Fire. Apparently, like Boals, Doogie White has also played in Yngwie Malmsteen’s band as a singer. The vocal connection was there! Finding stuff can be difficult because this style is not popular in the USA, but I cheerfully gave Doogie White a thumbs up. But, where is the Floyd Rose tremolo??? It's a Yngwie uses a Fender for crying out loud. lol!
