I totally agree. I often make bands' seeds because I haven't heard them before and want to listen. When it comes to rock these days, apparently almost all of the children scream. Sometimes, I want to hear bands that don't scream and I was recommended to enter specific tracks, but many times I have no clue what I'm getting into when I check out an artist. Track what? I don't know it yet. I feel like rock is dying, and I'm looking for good new bands that don't scream. It seems like there should be a way to correct Pandora if they misunderstand your taste. I almost always hate screaming, and I'm told that there is no button I can press to stop or even toggle it. I think any parent can sympathize with that if they have raised a baby. It would be nice to be able to enter no screaming vocals or as in your case, no vocals at all. I feel like Pandora should work with me in taste, and that means being able to tell them what I like in addition to Pandora taking into account what they think I like.

Under "Now playing,"I love the Artist Only button. However, I want to have an additional Seeds Only button where only the station seeds of a station are played.

I like to rate albums, and I would like to use Pandora.com. I feel like cumulatively radio and the music industry has tried to do away with album rock. I feel like they have attempted this since I was a kid, and they just haven't been able to do it. People like me don't necessarily want a hit every time. We want to hear the collective sound of an album and see how a band explores the sound at that time in their career, and observe the evolution and sonic history of bands through songs and albums.
It would be great if I could do this with Pandora. I would like to know how much and what I've listened to help assist me rating albums. I would like for this to be an something that can be unlocked because I don't care about ratings of people who haven't listened to artists songs and albums.
I think the best place to store this would be under the Now Playing feature, when clicking on a composer/artist/song/album.
It would also be nice if people could make these quick ratings available to the public and have the opinions of veteran raters count for more.

I like the idea, but I think keep the thumb up being only 1 time, and maybe add a clickable "like" or something similar for each time the song plays. Also, keep track of it too, so you or someone else [if you so choose] can observe your taste and activity. That is one reason why I don't listen to albums very often, meaning I am not able to keep track of my activity. For example, I really like the idea that stations allow me to keep track of my listening hours.

I would like a feature that lets you add the name musician credits in addition to being able to add artists and songs. Some musicians, especially session musicians are very talented, such that songs where they have a credit, such as composing a song, playing a song, that they appear in different bands but aren’t considered the name of the main artist, or if they appear only as a guest only on certain album tracks, and I hope to be able to have them added as a different type of seed.

I don't like being shouted at by naughty children. Is there any way I can tell Pandora that I don't like this? Practically every day that I listen to Pandora I feel like I have to repeat myself that I don't want to listen to music with singers that shout at me. A little vocal rasp is fine, but how do I tell Pandora to nix listening to any children that sound like "Cookie Monster?" I have listened to Pandora now since 2014, and still it is the same thing. I want to hear rock, or heavy rock, but Pandora keeps feeding me a daily dose of Cookie Monster. Stop it already!

Now that I have become frustrated, I use the "I'm Tired of This Song Feature" very often. It suggests that I like the style and the song, but just don't want to hear it nearly as frequently. I have experimented with everything else, and at this time it is the only way. Hopefully, Pandora beefs up that feature in the future. I would really like to be able to select how many hours of listening I could go without Pandora throwing it in the mix again. That would be ideal. I want to be the one who is in control of my music! much like everyone else in this thread!, and I imagine that if Pandora keeps it up they will stifle their business. I should also say that when I started using the "I'm Tired of this Song Feature," much more frequently it is not like I miss those songs. Usually, what fills their place is more songs that I'm tired of at first, but if I have found that if I persist I seem to get what I want. That's enough for me now. I recommend trying this, as I bet if you use the feature enough you will get closer to having your desired stations. The biggest drag though is the continuance of not being able to have featured albums, artists, and songs in the mix. Seeds don't seem to cut it. I feel like I could listen to a station for a year and still not hear what I have seeded as opposed to what Pandora thinks I want to listen to.

If you look at my profile, there are a few attempts to suggest new ways of doing the mix, and a few complaints that the ability is not there. Perhaps, I need to negate that, and really give the "I'm tired of this song (selection)," a significant try. Sure there might be the drawback that for a while I will be doing quite a bit of music baby sitting, but I'm practically always music baby sitting because now my wife is home because it is illegal for her to work given that COVID-19 is going around, such that she really doesn't want to hear the stereo now that she is back home for a while. For her sake, I'm using my laptop and headphones, so as I use the computer I can just - I'm tired of this song - until my heart is content, and see what comes of it because I no longer have a problem of not being able to operate the stereo to a remote origin. Generally, I don't prefer headphones, but luckily March also saw the birthday of my son, meaning he got new headphones, and I got his old ones. My new hand-me-down headphones are significantly better, such that using them isn't so annoying, and sounds about as good as my Bose stereo output, except I can use them on the laptop. And, a part the reason for my original confusion might be that the skip button actually means anything more than skip the song. However, after writing a bunch, I'm just going to get to it and start using the I'm tired of this track feature until I'm happy with my mix. And, if I don't get happy, then maybe I will go back to complaining. lol!

Re: bchertov Thanks for this plug. Glad we see this is needed! I personally really get annoyed at the albums part. I have listened to so many albums thoroughly and would like to space out the songs out of those mixes sparsely, but I bought the popular albums, such that the exact opposite comes. I have to put stuff on the shelf too much. Its like cleaning to try to get the songs I don't want to hear often from bands out of my feed.

Several years ago, there was a time when I seeded to the most popular first. Pandora then focused on the most popular artists first, and hardly anything else. I wanted to hear other stuff though, so I scavenged the web for lesser known bands that I would like for Pandora to give equal treament to. I put them there because I wanted to hear them. Duh! Now, years later, know this, if I wanted to still keep hearing the popular stuff, good or not so good, why else would I add seeds of less popular bands? It is as if Pandora is trying to tell me what is the best when I already know what I like. By Pandora skipping over play of the less popular bands, I get the same old same old. Please stop! How can I tell Pandora I don't want the same old same old. Maybe let an occasional B-side of the popular bands in, because I want the less populars and rarities. I want to hear who the music industry has put on the bottom of the barrel, and continues to do so. I put them as seeds because I want to hear the lesser knowns. I can evaluate them myself.

My latest project is to get my power metal station (bands like: Blind Guardian, MasterPlan, and Delain) to mix with glam metal (bands like: Tesla, Steelheart, and Bon Jovi). They seem similar enough in my mind, especially if mixed with bands like Skid Row, Judas Priest, and Motley Crue that might help bridge the gap. But, I think there might be bands that won't mix, such as bands like: Nevermore, Iced Earth, and Symphony X, but there I don't think it is that these musics don't mix. Rather, it is effects like compression that the bands these are overusing.

Re: joemd Interesting idea; listening to music with no repeats. Sometimes that would be totally awesome! Most average songs I know bore me after like 5 listens. It does seem a bit extreme. However, I do think it should be possible to be able to select just how long you want to put an artists, albums or songs on the shelf. That probably should not include months though, because most people listen to different stations, meaning that maybe one month you never listened to that music, it is not the day count that is important, but rather the hours of listening count for a particular station. For instance, if you have a station that has been listened to for 24hrs, you are probably better able to be able to select that you don't want to hear that song played in the next 24hrs of listening, as opposed to just a regular day, a month's of time, or 3 months' time.

I don't like adding more stuff to the "add variety" part. Many of my stations have well over a 100 seeds, which makes my computer, which isn't all that powerful slow. When adding variety, keep the seeds: artist, album, and song separate such that they don't slow things down as much. I also remember the old days where add variety became such an issue that I trimmed many of my station lists because I wanted to see the seeds and they were so slow loading. Then Pandora, sped up and this became less of a problem.

Artist, Album, and Song Control on Stations I feel a lot like Pandora assumes that every listener is new to the bands they select, such that the popular songs are played first. However, for a veteran music listener, many of the times I seed something, much of it I have already listened to quite a bit, especially depending on the album, as opposed to the artist. Stop trying to figure out what I like because I do a lot of skipping over songs that are in my feed. Which is okay, but this is where I get frustrated: Sometimes the skips and the put it on the shelves aren’t working, especially I find this in the way that albums Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, And Justice for All, and the Black Album; great music, but I have been listening to them since I was a child. Pandora does the same thing with Iron Maiden. Instead of assuming a customer has never heard them before, there should also be room for people to say that they are most interested in listening to the new album in a station mix. I’ve talked about Dream Theater before, so I will give that as an example: I have been a Dream Theater fan since they first came out with Pull Me Under of Images and words. I am familiar with all their albums, except Breaking the Fourth Wall, Live at Luna Park, Chaos in Motion, Live Scenes From New York, Live at Budokan, and Dying to Live Forever, such that I would really like to be able to hear this music in the mix, but as I’m listening to them now, I’d like to be able to tell my “Artist Only” feature that I would like to be able to hear the Dream Theater station to favor the albums I listed, instead of telling me what I would like to hear, as if I had never heard a band before when I have been a dedicated fan for almost 30 years. However, many artists I seed because I have never heard them before. I probably want Pandora to put their best foot forward. However, what Pandora usually does is simply not to play the artist at all, despite the Deep Cuts feature. I think there should be ways to suggest familiarity with the music, and this is where being able to select albums in the mix should come in. It should also be possible to select that one simply wants to listen to albums that performed poorly, or music that the critics rejected, such that I come looking for 1-3 star albums instead of 4-5 star albums, where 5 stars represents the highest possible rating. Another thing that troubles me is that often I’m met with songs I have already heard many times before. I know this is a common problem, and the idea of being able to select artists, albums, and songs that one should be able to select what they don’t want to hear. Sometime it is so futile to do this through putting songs on the shelf, when other possibilities should be able to put artists and albums on the shelf. This would solve the Metallica issue. I would tell Pandora the Metallica albums I sometimes feel are in my stream ad nauseum, as opposed to selecting each of the songs on an album, as the shelf wait is inconsequential as by the time I give a shelf to another one, another one frustratingly pops off the shelf and its back in my stream. And, I still like the idea of having the option to treat the music feed for seeds as all equal in station mixes.
