Never ending someone else is listening message!

I keep having problems with getting the 'someone else is listening' message no matter what I tried.  I did change the password, which is now a strong password, which pretty rules out that some unauthorized person is logging into my account.  The issue usually happens when I play music on my laptop, then pause that music (the last time it happened I even put my laptop to sleep), then try to play music on my cell phone.  It seems so variable, where sometimes a songs will play fine on my cell phone, then suddenly I keep getting that **ahem** message, which makes it completely unusable.  I am the only one using this account, and have not shared the account or password with anyone.

Any thoughts on how to fix this?  It seems that a lot of people reported this problem.  It's also very frustrating that there is no support phone number for Pandora.

Thanks in advance for any ideas

@smeyers Sorry for any trouble.

If you're seeing the message, "Your Pandora Account is currently playing on another device," or "Someone else is listening," it means that multiple devices are streaming from your account simultaneously.

While your Pandora account can be logged into as many devices as you like, they can't be playing at the same time. As long as you press pause on one device before you listen on another, you should be fine.

If you are concerned that this message means unauthorized access to your account, we can take certain steps to protect it. Since you have already reset your password, I will now help sign you out of all of the devices. It may cause a temporary interruption in service. This will automatically sign you out everywhere including any devices you currently have, so you will need to sign back in once this change takes effect.

Let me know if you continue to experience issues with this.

Hi Adam, Thanks for the reply.  I am well aware of the single stream requirement, and can assure you that I'm not trying to stream simultaneously from multiple devices.  I also had changed my password to a google-suggested strong password, so doubt anyone but myself is using my account.

This is exactly what happened:

-Yesterday morning I started Pandora on my laptop; played for a couple of hours with no problem
-Paused Pandora on my laptop and closed laptop cover putting laptop to sleep
-Played Pandora in my car via cell phone-Android Auto for 15 minutes with no problem
-Tried to play Pandora on my cell phone-headphones when out hiking; this is when message kept coming up.  Sometimes 20 minutes would go by without a message, other times it kept popping up.

I also play Pandora via my WiiM system, but that has been stopped for a couple of days, and if that were playing, I would keep getting the message come up on my laptop, and that has been playing without a problem for several hours... correct?

I've had this problem many times in the past, and it is very frustrating.  It would be very helpful if there was a way for the user to diagnose the issue by seeing a list of Pandora clients (e.g. IP addresses) that Pandora thinks are streaming.  Then I could see if it thinks one of my devices is streaming, or from somewhere else.  Is this something you can do and send me the results?  Are you a Pandora employee?

Thanks

@smeyers Thanks for following up.

 To clarify, changing your password does not result in logging other users out of your account. I went ahead and removed all devices from your account earlier today which should now help rule out any unauthorized users on your account who may have been triggering the someone else is listening message.

For future reference, check out this thread for instructions on how to remove devices from your account if it happens again.

While there isn't a way for you to view what devices are streaming on your account, I believe the measures we have now taken should resolve the issue.

If you continue to receive the someone else is listening message even after pausing the stream on one device before starting a new stream on another device, please reply back to this thread and let me know.

OK, much appreciated.  I'll see what happens and let you know.

Thanks again.
