CarPlay: Pandora buffers when using WiFi for wireless CarPlay

Pandora used to work wonderful until last update. Now when I’m in the car regardless of how iPhone is connected to the radio, pandora only buffers unless I turn off WiFi. If I’m connected to car play it disconnects and I have to plug it in. I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Any help?

Hi @CCart71

Welcome to community!

Can you tell me a little more about your experience:

  • Does this only happen when connected to your Pathfinder or does Pandora buffer outside your vehicle too?
  • When in your Pathfinder are you connected to an internal WIFI that  enables you to connect to CarPlay?
  • When you connect with a USB do you still have the same problem?

Thanks for the help!

Good morning,
Thank you for your email.

Does this only happen when connected to your Pathfinder or does Pandora
buffer outside your vehicle too? It is mostly in my Pathfinder but it does
happen occasionally outside my car

When in your Pathfinder are you connected to an internal WIFI that enables
you to connect to CarPlay? WiFi to connect to CarPlay. I actually have to
turn off WiFi and then connect with the USB. Once I do that, CarPlay
doesn’t switch automatically and I have to manually reconnect though the
dashboard. If I remember to turn off WiFi before turning on my car and
connecting to CarPlay Pandora works great. Pandora is the only app I’m
having issues with. I can use ApplePlay or XM and they both work. I just
prefer Pandora and would like it to work correctly.

Thank You,

Thanks for the details, @CCart71!

I don't believe any troubleshooting steps I can offer today would help to resolve this immediately. I have reported your issue internally to our engineering teams to investigate.

Could you confirm your:

  • iOS version:
  • Pandora version:

Based on your reply, it seems the problem seemingly occurs when connecting to the WiFi, and that for the most part USB is fine.

Could try opening Pandora and playing the app before stepping in your car to see if you have the same experience happen. I ask just to clarify the experience if connecting to the WiFi and then trying to play Pandora through CarPlay is what is leading to your issue.

Thanks again!
