CarPlay: Poor internet connection message

Normally I can connect to Apple CarPlay fine and after @ 2 songs I get “poor Internet Connection”. 
can not get back connected. Makes for a long ride without music

whats up?  How to correct this?

When you connect to CarPlay, is this with wireless Carplay or USB cord?

99% wireless. I tried USB to see if it would clear up poor internet
connection but no good
