Goolge Assistant: Voice commands return incorrect request while in car

Every time I ask Google Assistant to play a song in the car (Android Auto) on Pandora, it plays the most obscure version of the song or it plays a different artist's version of the song.  What is going on?

For Example, this morning I said, "Hey Google, play I Wish I Was a Baller by Skee-Lo" and it played I Wish (I was a Baller) by Richard Cheese!

Then I said, "Hey Google, play Skee-Lo, I Wish - Radio Edit".  It played I Wish (bonus street mix).

Something likes this happens every time I request a song in the car.

Sorry for any trouble with Google Assistant in your car! I understand how frustrating that can be when voice commands don't work the way they should. 

I don't believe any troubleshooting would help in this situation. So, I've gone ahead and passed this along to our engineering team for further investigation.

@ladywoods has this always been the case or just happened recently? Im curious because ive noticed a different issue with AA where the voice commands are worse than they were in the past. but its a slightly different issue so not sure if its related or not

@EmperorJJ1 I think it's been happening for 6-8 months or so.  The voice command used to work much better.  I have stopped using it as much as I used to because it has been consistently disappointing me over  the past several months.

yeah that timeline sounds about right for my issue as well. Im assuming they are linked. For me voice command no longer will play my own created stations nor playlists. I used to be able to without any issue but now anytime i mention them it choses a pandora created option that sounds similar in name. I think im going to test the issue you are having though as most often ive just given up using the voice command instead of trying for individual tracks (artists seems to be the only consistent that works for me)

so just tested it. I said "Play return of the mack on pandora" 1st try nothing happened; it continued playing what was playing before. 2nd Try it played return of the mack instrumental

@TannerPandora Question. does my issue of voice commands not bringing up custom stations/playlists belong on this thread or should i make a new one?

I think you're in the right spot. This is definitely a tough experience, especially when Google is not returning the correct requests, especially with songs. I've gone ahead and included your details in my report to our engineering team. Let us know if you're experience changes at all.
