I have this same issue when it runs through the Bluetooth in my car and like you I do not have this problem through my earbuds. Unfortunately, Pandora will not restart at all even if I close the app completely and open it up again it won't play at all. So I have to disconnect my Bluetooth and reconnect it or restart my phone for Pandora to play again. It is so frustrating. And just for reference, my vehicle is a 2015 Ford escape with factory stereo. So I definitely think it's Pandora and not an issue with the car or the stereo itself. I have gone through all my settings through Bluetooth, do not disturb, the settings in Pandora and I cannot find a resolution.
Unfortunately, this did not help my situation which is pretty much the same. I have my phone on do not disturb but when I go through my Bluetooth in my car to listen to Pandora and a call comes in it gets rejected but Pandora shuts down and will not restart even if I close the app completely and start again it just won't play. So I have to restart my phone essentially to get it to work again

@KLaw37 I've enabled a trace on your account to help us better understand what's happening.
For this trace to be useful, we'll need you to run through our troubleshooting steps: Troubleshooting for Android Devices
If this does not resolve the issue, can you send over a bit more info about your device?
Does this only happen when connected to bluetooth? If you receive a phone call while not using bluetooth, does the music resume?
Have you identified any other patterns or notable information?
Let me know what you can find out.
This just started happening to me when I got a new samsung galaxy s25. I have to disconnect bluetooth on my phone and reconnect to get pandora to start again. I have a 2023 mazda cx30. I had no problem with my old galaxy s21.
Please help.
Hi @Imkarenc
Welcome to community!
When connecting to your Mazda are you using the integrated Pandora app found in some vehicles, wireless Android Auto, or just Bluetooth. With just Bluetooth, you start Pandora from your phone, but you can use the basic controls on your car, like skip, pause, play etc.
Thanks for the additional details!
I'm connected by the integrated pandora app from my car. I never had any issues with the galaxy s21 and this new phone worked fine for about a week. I tried android auto but same problem.
Thanks for the follow up, @Imkarenc.
Could you also confirm if the battery optimization settings for Pandora are enabled or disabled. Here are some steps that may help- due to the numerous versions of Android devices, there may be some discrepancy in these steps as it applies to your specific phone.
In the meantime, as I don't believe any troubleshooting steps will resolve this immediately, I've shared your information and experience with our engineering team for further review and investigation.
It was on Optimized.i changed to Unrestricted and I think it worked! I'll see over the next few days. Thanks so much for now!!
I hope that was helpful, @Imkarenc, and I hope you had a lovely weekend. Let me know if you're still having trouble. Crossing my fingers. 🤞
Unfortunately, that did not work. I still have to disconnect and reconnect from bluetooth to restart Pandora.
Thanks for letting me know, @Imkarenc. Is it only with phone calls, or messaging too?
Just phone calls. Not that I message much from the car but on the occasion that I'm the passenger, I've not had a problem.
