Desktop: Songs Show but Won't Play

I'm having the same problem on my I-Mac.  I can hear commercials fine, but not the music.  Everything worked fine until about two weeks ago.

Thanks for providing those details, @jbomz.

  • Does this happen when you attempt to listen to a song on-demand using Premium Access?
  • Or, is this happening with your stations only?

In the meantime, let's try some troubleshooting steps that may help.

First, try resetting the Pandora app from the Help menu (not to worry, we'll keep track of your profile and collection for you). Select Help and then Reset App Data.

If that doesn't correct the issue, please try uninstalling and reinstalling the Pandora app. Again, we'll keep track of your collection for you. To do that:

  1. Close the Pandora app.
  2. Open a new Finder window.
  3. Click on Applications.
  4. Find the Pandora app and drag it to the Trash bin.
  5. Right click the Trash bin and select Empty Trash.

You can then use the following steps to reinstall the app:

  • Install the Pandora desktop app from our website.
  • Open the downloaded file and follow the prompts to complete the installation.

Let me know how it goes. 🎧

Hey there, @jbomz. 👋

Thanks for reporting this. I moved your post over to a separate thread the Desktop forum to keep the community space organized: Desktop: Songs Show but Won't Play

How are you listening when this happens?

Are you using the Pandora Desktop App?

Or, are you using a web browser? If so, which one?

Let me know. 🎧

Thank you for your quick response.  Per your referenced inquiry, I am listening through the built in speakers of my I-Mac running macOS Big Sur v. 11.4.  I am using the Pandora desktop app, which has worked for several years until about two weeks ago.  The problem began when I was prompted to upgrade and then declined.

Thank you.
