Pandora will not play on Firefox

Hello,

I have not been able to play music on Pandora for about a month now.  I have a software guy who helped me check all the obvious things. What else can I try after doing all the following?

  • Volume is on in all locations
  • Firefox permissions allow autoplay
  • Restart the browser completely

Still no success.  Bummer.

@dibbleizer, those things that you tried are only scratching the surface to try to resolve the issue on Firefox. I also was having issue after issue trying to play Pandora on Firefox, so after doing some very extensive research to try and resolve and find my issue for Pandora to play, here is what I was able to find. If it worked for me, then there is a good chance it will for you. But you cannot take shortcuts in the steps I provide.

1.) Clear Firefox Cookies & Cache for Pandora

Pandora specifically recommends clearing Cookies, Site Data, and Cached Web Content when playback fails. This resolves corrupted session data that can block audio.

How to do it:

  • Open Firefox menu (☰)

  • History → Clear Recent History

  • Set Time range: Everything

  • Check Cookies, Site Data, Cached Web Content

  • Click Clear Now

  • Restart Firefox and try Pandora again.

2.) Try Pandora in a Private Window

If Pandora works in a private window, the issue is almost always caused by:

  • A browser extension

  • A custom privacy setting

  • A tracking‑protection rule, Pandora explicitly recommends this test.

Test:

  • Press Ctrl+Shift+P (Windows)

  • Open pandora.com and try playing music

If it works → move to Step 3.

3.) Disable Extensions Temporarily

Ad blockers, privacy tools, and even password managers can block Pandora’s audio scripts.

Try:

  • Menu → Add‑ons and Themes

  • Disable all extensions

  • Restart Firefox

  • Test Pandora

  • Re‑enable extensions one by one to find the culprit.

4.) Update Firefox

Outdated versions of Firefox have been known to break Pandora playback. Mozilla support threads show users reporting Pandora failures on older builds.

Check:

  • Menu → Help → More troubleshooting information → Update Firefox.

5.) Re‑check Autoplay (Even if You Already Did)

Firefox sometimes resets autoplay permissions after updates.

Verify:

  • Go to pandora.com

  • Click the lock icon in the address bar

  • Set Autoplay → Allow Audio and Video.

6.) Check Network or VPN

Pandora can block playback if:

  • You’re on a VPN

  • Your IP location changes frequently

  • A firewall blocks media streams

Try disabling VPN or switching networks briefly.

7.) Try Another Browser (Diagnostic Only)

If Pandora works in Chrome or Edge, the issue is definitely Firefox‑specific. This matches reports from Mozilla’s own support forum.

8.) If None of These Work

Pandora’s community threads show that persistent playback failures sometimes require:

  • Resetting Firefox to default settings

  • Creating a fresh Firefox profile

  • Reinstalling Firefox. These steps resolved similar “won’t play audio” issues for other users.

Wish you the best. Take care, and GOD bless.

@dibbleizer Nice to see you around the community.

I'd be happy to help with any questions you have, but I will need additional information to do so.

Can you explain your issue a bit further?

  1. Is the website not loading? Or does it load, however when you select a station to play, nothing happens?
  2. Is there an error message? If so, what does it say?
  3. Can you provide me with a screenshot of what you're seeing?
  4. Do you experience the same issue when using a different browser? (ex: Google Chrome)

The more details you're able to provide, the better equipped I'll be to help.

I look forward to hearing back.
