Proxy Triggering Ad-Blocker

Fromple

Yo!! I'm on a school computer, so in order to access any music I have to go through a proxy. I was trying to listen to my jams on Pandora since my primary provider and Youtube weren't working. How do I turn this ad-blocker off? Proxies mask IP, not ad-blocker. Confused.

Hi @Fromple , welcome to the community!

Happy to help! Can you tell me if you are streaming from your browser and which browser are you using?

That said, since you're listening to Pandora from your school's computers, and I understand that you are connected to your school's network, you may also want to check in with the school's IT department for their recommendations.

I see it's been a while since you’ve posted, but I just wanted to ask if anyone’s had any luck getting past the ad blocker issue with updated browser settings or newer proxy configurations. I’ve tried pausing my extensions and switching VPN servers, but nothing seems to change. Curious if something more recent has worked for others or if Pandora has made any updates on their end.

Yeah, proxies and ad-blockers can get confusing since they do totally different things. Proxies hide your IP but don’t affect ads directly. I once struggled with ads popping up on school computers until I realized some ad-blockers are built into browsers or extensions. Also, using a good vpn provider helped me bypass restrictions without messing with ads.

I had similar issues with stale shares until I started using Residential Proxies. They helped me avoid ISP throttling and reduced latency between my rig and the pool server. If your ISP does any kind of traffic shaping or you’ve got high ping to your pool, switching to Residential Proxies can make a big difference.
