Web + Desktop: Playing music quits reports something went wrong

sauermf

For months now, my pandora quits when using my browser to play Pandora at work.  There are no ad blockers or other security mechanisms blocking Pandora, this is a Pandora issue!  Sometimes play stops mid-song, sometimes between songs.  I've tried different browsers with the same results.

****

Pandora, fix your issue or I will leave you for good!

Hi @sauermf ,

Thanks for posting. I understand how frustrating it can be to run into this kind of error, especially when all you want to do is enjoy your music on Pandora.

While I’ve already shared your information with our engineering team, any additional details about your experience that you can provide will be very helpful to the investigation process. The more specific you can be, the better it will help.

Could you let us know:

  • Does the error appear right when you open Pandora, or only after listening for a while?
  • Does it happen more often with stations, playlists, albums, or podcasts?
  • Do you usually close your web browser when you’re done listening, or leave the window open?
  • Do you shut down your computer at the end of the day?
  • What operating system are you running?

Thanks for your help, and we appreciate your continued patience.

  • Does the error appear right when you open Pandora, or only after listening for a while?
    • No, it generally will play at least one song, sometimes more, then it quits or gives an error that something went wrong.  If I click on refresh, it sometimes works (about 50%), I refresh or "re-login", and the cycle of quitting after 1 or more songs restarts.
  • Does it happen more often with stations, playlists, albums, or podcasts?
    • I mostly play stations, never podcasts.  It doesn't seem to be different whether is is a station or album.
  • Do you usually close your web browser when you’re done listening, or leave the window open?
    • I generally leave the browser open, but I've recently switched to using Edge for music, and Chrome for everything else.  The behavior seems a little better with Edge, but my browsers are running the latest version, and with refresh to fix the "oops something went wrong" error, it only fixes things about 50% of the time.
  • Do you shut down your computer at the end of the day?
    • No, never, but my computer is managed by Active Directory within the company and maintains current patching.
  • What operating system are you running?
    • Windows 11 Pro 25H2  Build 26200.6584

Here's a classic example of the error I see when playing Pandora:  This played 1 or 2 songs, then simply stopped playing.  If I click play, I get this display.  I have to either re-log in or refresh the browser and refreshing only works 50% of the time.

2 months since post and I was hoping there was a resolution. I'm having the same issue, paid account, long time subscriber.

This happens in Chrome - Version 142.0.7444.176 (Official Build) (64-bit)

and Edge for Business - Version 143.0.3650.66 (Official build) (64-bit)

My answers to the questions asked of OP ...

Does the error appear right when you open Pandora, or only after listening for a while? After listening for a bit, sometimes after 3-4 songs sometimes after an hour or so, it stops playing and I get the same error message as OP "Something has gone wrong..."

Does it happen more often with stations, playlists, albums, or podcasts? I only listen to my stations.

Do you usually close your web browser when you’re done listening, or leave the window open? Yes, I close my browser at the end of the work day.

Do you shut down your computer at the end of the day? Yes, I restart my computer before I leave for the day and do not log in until I come in the next day.

What operating system are you running? Windows 11 Pro, Version 25H2, OS Build 26200.7171.

I have left Pandora due to a complete lack of support from the company I maintained a paid subscription with.  Disappointing, but the reality, they just don't care about providing a quality product worth paying for.

Bye bye Pandora.  You used to be a pioneer in your space, now, you're just another 2 bit player, and there are other giants who actually deliver service.

Hi @munch75, welcome to the Pandora Community!

Thanks for sharing this information and sorry for the trouble. I've enabled a trace on your account to help us better understand what's happening. For this trace to be useful, we'll need you to attempt the steps from the  links below and then attempt to listen to Pandora as you normally would:

If you continue to have issues after trying these steps, if yod like you can try installing the desktop app and listening from there instead. You can find the Pandora app in the Windows Store on your device. Search for Pandora in the upper right corner and click Get to install.

Downloading any app from the Windows Store will require that you have a Microsoft account and password.

Let me know how it goes.
