I'm having the same issue, getting artist messages even though it's disabled in settings. I've tried enabling it and re-disabling it but I'm still getting messages.

In the meantime, I'd recommend creating a new station based on a favorite song or artist that you normally hear on Today's Alternative.

I have contacted support about this over a year ago. Still continues with artist messages before their new song. I pay to not hear commercials or artists talking. Pandora please get this fixed!! Your competitors are outdoing you and you need to be better.
