Did you mean:

One seeded band and song will not play on a particular station.

I have had this issue happen with two different stations with two different bands. Station 1 was seeded with several bands including what I will call band 1. This is not the initial seed but was an additional seed added later. I played this station for almost a year and never once did it play the seeded band.  Station 2 was created because station 1 would not play band1. I added other bands without adding band 1 and station 2 plays band 1. I added band 2 to station 2 after a few other band seeds. After 3 months of not hearing a song from band 2 i seeded it with a particular song from the band...nothing from that band for 2 months but one song. I tried several modes including deep cuts with no success. Out of desperation I added a third seed that was a collaboration album that included band 2. Now all of a sudden band 2 is playing but not as frequently as other selections are. I have heard a total of 5 songs by this band since I created and added this band to the station over 5 months ago. Pandora seems to just decide I don't want you to hear this particular band on this stations and just doesn't play it... What can I do to ensure a band I have seeded my station with will actually play that band.

@Kentlowt Sorry for any trouble.

Thanks for taking the time to share such a detailed breakdown of what you’re experiencing — I can definitely understand how frustrating that must feel.

We have a pinned community post that goes into this in more detail. In particular, the section called “Not hearing the artist or song your station was created for” explains why certain seeded artists may not come up as often as expected, even when they’ve been added to your station.

👉 Tips for better stations

That resource walks through how station variety, seed balance, and listening behavior can all influence what gets played.

If your goal is to hear a specific band, song, or album whenever you want, there is another option as well. With a Premium subscription (or even a complimentary Premium session), you can switch from radio-style listening to fully on-demand playback.

You can learn more about upgrading on our website, or try it out right away by searching for a song or album and pressing play. After a short ad, you’ll be able to listen on-demand for the duration of the session.

I hope this helps!

My goal is to have a balanced variety of songs from the artists I seeded the station with and similar suggested artists l. I just found it peculiar that the only way I could get a particular band to play is to seed the station three different times and with a different band that was a collaboration with another artist before I could get ANY song to play from the artist. Even after this I hear multiple song from other seeded artists sometimes multiple times per listening session. I am ok with this just not ok with not hearing a particular band I hav seeded more than once in a 2 month time period from coming up in the playlist. This suggests there is something wrong with the seeding process but I will leave this troubleshooting to those more capable.
