What does the meaning of words like Clean mean

daleslad
On the Rise

I've noticed in my playlists that some songs may have a word like "Clean" or a letter like "E"  on  the far right of the line that the song is on.   There are many other words and letters that I've noticed but never paid much notice to.

I'm curious to know just what these words and letters mean.

Thanks

Nice to see you around the community, @daleslad.

The "E" tag indicates that track is explicit.

The "Clean" tag indicates that track is the non-explicit version.

I hope this helps clarify.

Thanks Adam for the reply.   I'm afraid I'm still not clear about the term Explicit when referring to music tracks.    Does it mean it's the original track?

@daleslad An explicit version of a song means that the lyrics contain strong language, profanity, or mature content that might not be suitable for all audiences.

For example, if a song has swear words, sexual references, or violent themes, itโ€™s considered explicit. Artists sometimes release a clean version of the same song, where those words or themes are edited out, muted, or replaced so it can be played on the radio or in public places.

I hope this helps explain.
