Alexa not always shuffling

When I give Alexa the command "Alexa, shuffle my stations from Pandora", very often it does so. If I then later on give it the command "Alexa, play Elton John Radio from Pandora", it does this successfully as well. However, if I give the command  "Alexa, shuffle my stations from Pandora" again, it will not shuffle, and it will never shuffle again. What it does is begin playing the Elton John Radio again, always. How do I get Alexa to consistently shuffle my radio stations again as it should? This is being done from Alexa on my Android Samsung S24 phone.

Hi @bobchep

Welcome to the Community! Sorry to hear you're having trouble with Shuffle on your Alexa.

The command “Alexa, shuffle my stations from Pandora” is the correct command for shuffling your Pandora stations, so I’m happy to pass along what you’re experiencing to our engineering team for further review.

To help with the review, could you check your Alexa Voice History after this happens and share a screenshot showing how the request appears there? You can find this in the Alexa app under More > Alexa Privacy > Review Voice History.

You can attach the screenshot here through a web or mobile browser. Please note that you won't be able to include pictures when replying through an email notification you may receive from the Community.

In the meantime, if you haven't already, I recommend making sure the Alexa app, the Alexa device, and Pandora app are updated to the latest versions available for your devices.

Thanks for your help and patience!

Hello,

Thanks for your quick reply.

I began to gather the things you needed to help with the problem I'm
having with Pandora
not always shuffling all of the time when I request it. One thing was to
start gathering
the Voice History, so what I did was to erase the last 7 days of history
so that there
weren't be any commands I gave it in the past that weren't related to
this problem, and I would start with a
clean slate, so to speak.

I also made sure both versions of Pandora and Alexa were current.
Once I did these three things I told Alexa to "Shuffle my stations from
Pandora" and
it did so correctly and then told Alexa to Stop. All was good so far.
Then I told Alexa to play
one of my individual stations and the to stop and everything was still
good, which is what I
expected. I the told Alexa to shuffle my stations again and it did
shuffle my stations, which
was unexpected, so it's working fine now.

So between having the software up to date and removing
some of the history from Voice History, it's back to working as it should.

Thanks very much for your help with this problem.
