Amazon Alexa: Won't Play Requested Station

gprayback
Opening Act

Recently stations that have always worked with the Pandora skill on an Alexa device have stopped working. I'll say something like "tell Pandora to play the station calm yoga music." Until recently, it would play  my station which matches that name. But recently it has stopped finding some stations. And once it loses it, it will never find it again. It feels like there's a cache or something that's storing names of recently played stations and if it isn't in the cache, the Pandora skill won't find it from the Alexa device. It's quite frustrating because this is the only way I listen to my music and I have to keep going to the Alexa app and finding my Pandora stations there. I don't understand why the Pandora skill can't find them.

At long last, this issue of not being able to play Pandora stations on echo devices via voice command  has now affected all of my Echo devices. I have multiple devices at 2 different residences and got my first echo in 2017. I've tried rebooting my routers, rebooting the devices after, disabling and re-linking my Pandora account in the Alexa app, etc. Nothing has fixed it.

I made a video showing the usability issue.

Video of Echo Usability Problem Trying to Play Pandora Stations

It's disheartening to see this issue has festered with Amazon for years and their devs have not addressed it I guess they have moved on to better things, since the echo devices aren't the cash cows they were hoped to be when initially designed... They thought everyone would be voice ordering merchandise with them and those chickens never really came home to roost.

This issue is still occurring.  Amazon Alexa says it "cannot find the station ..." when I tell it to play a custom station.  It is said and heard correctly but it is no longer finding any of my custom stations in Pandora via speaking to the Alexa.  The only way to get it to play is to open Pandora app, select the station, then go to alexa app, find the station that was recently played on the app then manually play it.  That's a silly work around when a) Alexa has been working great for years with Pandora and my custom stations.  Just recently (in 2025) has it stopped "finding" my stations.

I have already tried a) unlinking Pandora from alexa then relinking, didn't work.  b) unplugging and restarting Alexa, didn't work. c) renaming a custom pandora station to something more unique, Alexa still says "I can't find the station ...". d) searching the history of what is said is correct, Alexa just claims that it can't "find the station".

Perhaps this has to do with the new Amazon Alexa+ that force launched in 2025?  But Pandora must work with the Amazon engineers to get this fixed.

Stopped working for me in July on all my echo devices... I have 7 between two residences (some running alexa v.1 and some running v.2).

Since it's happening on all echo devices, I assume it's an echo/alexa problem and it's up to Amazon to fix it.

I have little expectation they will actually fix it, however... At least until/if they start making money on the devices and platform... Which may not be anytime soon, if ever.
