Yamaha: Pandora Stops Working When Ads Appear

Topwop

This is also happening with mine.  As soon as an ad comes on it freezes until my receiver times out and turns off (20 min). I am listening to Pandora on a Yamaha A4A receiver.  All software and firmware is up to date.  Seems to be on any ad, nothing in particular. My receiver has pandora built in and updates all apps when the firmware updates; which it’s up to date.  I have to go onto the Yamaha Music cast app and change channels, change source etc.  nothing else works

Hi @Topwop

Sorry to hear you’re having trouble with your Yamaha.

If playback is still stopping whenever an ad starts, I can remove your Yamaha device connection from your Pandora account and have you reconnect. This may help to  improve overall performance and may resolve the issue you’re experiencing.

Please let me know if you’d like me to go ahead and remove that connection for you.

Alternatively, you can remove device connections from your end through a web browser. However, this would remove all the devices associated with your account. So you'll need to log back into any device you currently have.

To do this:

  • From a web browser, go to pandora.com and log in to your account.
  • Then click your Profile in the top right corner of the page and select Settings.
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Log out of all other devices.
  • Enter your password and press Log Out.

Hi,

thank you for offering to help.  I contacted Yamaha, and they had me unplug the receiver and reset it to see if that fixes the issue. So far, so good.  But I will let you know as I keep playing it.

I do however have another issue with Pandora with another device. When I tell Pandora on my Bose smart speaker to play one particular artist, it will only play Christmas music. Someone suggested going into my music folder and seeing if there was a holiday music category for this artist, which there was. I didn’t put it there and have never listened to it so I don’t know how it got into my folder, but I did delete it and there were no other others. However now I still ask the speaker to play the same artist, and it still plays only holiday music. If I ask it to switch to another artist it goes back to playing regular music. Then if I ask it to go back to that artist again it will again play only holiday songs. I am using Google assistant on my Bose portable Smart speaker.  This has been going on for about three weeks now, only with the same artist

I am having the same issue with Pandora on my Yamaha Musiccast system.  When an advertisement comes on, the speaker stops playing, and I need to click the play button to continue Pandora playing.  I have unplugged and restarted my speaker.  The firmware is the latest available.  I have cleared the cache in the Yamaha Musiccast app, as well as all of the data.  I also logged out of all sessions as described above.  Pandora continues to not work as it should.  I watched the app to troubleshoot this and when an advertisement comes on the screen, yet doesn't play, there is a small banner that says "We've encountered a connection error."  This started happening only a few weeks ago.  I need more help with this.

Hi @Need_help

Welcome to community! Sorry to hear you're having trouble with Pandora on your Yamaha.

Based on your description, it sounds like you’ve covered everything I would normally have recommend to help. Since you're still running to trouble I can report your experience to our engineering team for further investigation. Unfortunately, I don't have any other steps to recommend at this time.

Thanks for your patience in the meantime!
