Need to know how to stop paying with Paypal?

I'd like to stop using Paypal and start paying with a credit card, but have not been able to do that through my Pandora account. Pandora chat says I must cancel my subscription, let it expire, and renew it with the new payment method. Is this the only way? If so, will I lose my saved albums and playlists when I cancel my subscription?
