iOS: Keeps buffering and won’t play

Phone keeps buffering and won’t play any stations no matter where I am! They don’t have any trouble taking the monthly subscription fee though!  😡

I’ve tried everything I can think of to rectify:

  • power on and off
  • shut down and left off for a period of time
  • reload app
  •  Updated phone (iPhone 13 pro)
  • toggle cellular on and off and make sure it’s the same in the pandora app
  • tried different stations
  • tried different times of the day
  • tried using WiFi in my home vs my phone data
  • tried Bluetooth vs plug in


Nothing is working! I don’t want to cancel the subscription but nothing I do is working.  Any suggestions I haven’t thought of are appreciated!

Hi @Dory222 ,

Could you explain what's happening in more detail? The more information you can provide, the better we can help.

When this issue occurs: 

  • Is the app still open in the background where you're able to press play and resume music or do you need to close and relaunch the app to continue listening?
  • Are you listening to a station, album, playlist, or podcast? 
  • When using Wi-Fi, are you able to recover the listening session by toggling Wi-Fi off?

Additionally, please provide both your iOS and Pandora app versions:

  • iOS version: (Settings > General > About > Version)
  • Pandora version: (Pandora > Profile tab > Settings gear & scroll to the bottom of the screen)

In the meantime, if you haven't yet, please try uninstalling and reinstalling the app (not to worry, we'll keep track of your profile and collection for you). To do that:

  1. Hold down the Pandora icon on your Home screen until all the icons start "shaking."
  2. Then tap - in the upper left of the Pandora icon, and confirm that you want to Delete app.
  3. Then re-install Pandora via the App Store on your device.
