iOS: Offline Stations Disappeared with Plus

haymak3r
Underground

I too have noticed starting a couple days ago, that my offline downloads are no longer working. They are listed, as having the green down arrow next to the station, but when choosing an offline station, nothing starts playing. My phone has plenty of space, and is an iphone xr. I usually have cell data unchecked when I leave the house due to not having great cell reception to stream when going outdoors.
I am checking on the app, and in the gear icon, under offline, I saw that it needed to download all 4 stations? That finished, and I restarted the app, and when I go to offline mode, I now see really old offline stations, and so it almost seems like old data was downloaded? But my current offline stations don't do anything still. I was just using offline stations late this last week. What happened!! It'd be great to have a little more transparency or manageability of this stuff...

Hi there, @haymak3r. 👋

Sorry to hear that this is happening. I moved your post over to the iOS space of the Community to keep everything organized.

Based on your message, this issue doesn't appear to be storage related, I'd recommend disabling the offline listening feature and re-enabling it, which will reset the download process. Then, make sure to keep Pandora in the foreground of your device while the download completes.

To do that from a mobile device:

  1. Tap the Profile tab and then the Settings gear in the top right corner.
  2. Toggle Offline Mode off, and confirm that you'd like to remove the content from your device.
  3. Toggle Offline Mode on again, to reset the download process.
  4. Keep the Pandora app in the foreground of your device while your offline stations re-download.

If you continue to have trouble, please send over a screenshot showing the status of the downloads:

  1. Tap the Profile tab and then the Settings gear in the top right corner.
  2. Next select Offline. You should now be able to view a progress bar indicating the current download status.
  3. Take a screenshot of what you see here and attach it to your next post. You also mentioned seeing really old offline stations - could you take a screen of those two?

Thanks for your help, and for sticking with me on this. 🎧

Anything else? Nothing has changed, so I don't feel that doing these very basic things will have any impact.

Thanks for your feedback, @haymak3r.

Could you provide your device information so that I can share this with our engineering team?

It's helpful to know:

  • Device & Generation: (e.g. iPhone X, iPad Air (3rd gen), etc.)
  • Carrier:
  • iOS version: (Settings > General > About > Version)
  • Pandora version: (Pandora > Profile tab > Settings gear & scroll to the bottom of the screen)
  • Are you connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data when this is happening?
  • Have you identified any other patterns or notable information?
  • Would you mind sharing a screenshot of the status of your downloads? This will be helpful to share with our engineering team on the internal ticket.

Thanks for your help with this. 🎧

When the issue was first noticed, I was driving. But I have cell data
turned off for pandora. But this occurs when I am at home connected to wifi
as well. As soon as I go to online mode, music starts streaming just fine.
I just removed downloads, and am re-downloading everything. It now shows
Offline Stations 4 stations downloaded, and the radio button is active.
Download over cellular is turned off.

Chris

Just to update you. I once again turned offline downloads off, and waited a bit, and then turned it back on. This time it worked, and the current actual 4 stations are now downloaded correctly. I wish I could control what station to download offline though. I have this one called thumbprint radio. I never listen to this station, yet it is one of my 4 downloaded stations.. Anyways. This issue can be closed.

Thanks for the update, @haymak3r. Glad to hear that you're back to your normal offline tunes.

At this time, Pandora Plus listeners cannot add, delete or swap out which stations will be available for offline listening. We know this is a feature a lot of our listeners would enjoy, so I'll pass this idea onto our product team to consider. We periodically refresh the stations that are available to you offline (based on your listening habits), we may surprise you with adding them to your list.

If you'd like to see this option implemented, please upvote this existing idea: Choose your own Offline stations with Pandora Plus

To upvote an existing suggestion, click on the 💙 icon next to the title of the request.

Hope you're enjoying the tunes! 🎶
