Sorry, I was not clear enough - when I say covers of popular songs, I mean instrumental ones. No lyrics. I thumb those down along with popular Classical pieces, as I don't want familiar tunes or ones with rhythms heavily based to fit lyrics in them, yet Pandora still is selecting these things for me over and over. I don't see anything in my seeds or thumbs that would do this. I've tried. Most of my thumbs/seeds are from the same artists as the old station. I have tried to ask here before and received no answer - how would Premium improve my ability to add variety besides just allowing more thumbs down if wanted? I do not want a custom playlist or on-demand playing. Literally I wan the opposite. This station was created at Mod's recommendation (I cannot recall if you was you or someone else who spoke to me, sorry) since my original station was repeating certain tracks too often, and sorting seeds under strange categories like like Deep Cuts. Basically, not getting new songs in the style I want has been a problem now for 6-8 months.

My Frozen in Time station is set up to be a pared down, simple (mostly-instrumental) collection of pieces based around largely piano + violin or cello. I use it to focus on other tasks. While some pieces I have upvoted are based off of hymns, I’m downvoting anything with background “ambient” noises like waves or birds; covers of pop songs; and traditionally Classical works like concertos, suites, canons, etc. This includes really well-known Classical pieces. Basically, I don’t want bgd sound effects, I don't want ambiently slow spa/sleep pieces, and I don’t want tunes that are so common or heavily based on lyrics that I’m paying attention to that instead of using the music to focus. Unfortunately, the algorithm seems to spontaneously ignore these preferences, and at this point, my thumbs on the station are about 1-to-2 favoring downvotes. I’ve downvoted 5-6 versions just of Pachelbel’s Canon in D! Today, I had another well-known Classical piece pop up in the algorithm. I figured since it was a piano sonata, it just selected it because of that, but when I clicked “Why This Song?” it said one of the reasons was it was an “Acclaimed piece.” This is what I've been avoiding and downvoting! I’ve also had it multiple times select things “Because” it has a slow ambient pace or background ambient sounds despite me consistently downvoting these, too. What’s going on, here? How do I get the algorithm to stop selecting styles I’m downvoting as recommendations? Please note: deleting and starting the channel over isn’t an option. This is one that was already created as a successor to another station that started repeating the same songs over and over or picking things that didn’t fit at all. I can’t keep making and retailoring a new station every 4-6 months, and clearly that hasn't been working anyway, as evidenced by the high downvote rating on this 'new' station.

Seconding the most recent post. The most I got out of the comments was people posting lyrics for songs that did not have them, and people discussing the meaning/origins of the song. I do miss that interactivity with particular tunes. Recommending lyrics etc. here isn't very effective, as the moderation isn't 100% involved with the way the algorithms and song tracks themselves are uploaded and used on the site, so the forum can't really benefit much in that department besides "Thanks for the suggestion - we'll look into it." That being said, the comments on individual songs etc. was turning heavily spam and junky, and I can't blame anyone for taking it down. It's probably far too much to track compared to one unified forum concept, even if that's not the same thing.

Thanks Alyssa, but that does not seem to be the issue, since I am not using Chrome. I am using Firefox; I probably should've clarified that.My bad. I would like the notification that it's turned off to stop popping up every time I load Pandora without logging out previously. This has been a problem for months, if not a year +, and there has been no change. The auto-play being disabled is something I do not want to alter. After months of seeing this, sometimes multiple times a day, I'm aware that I have this setting turned off and don't need notified about it.

I apologize if this is in the wrong section and needs moved. I get a popup notification every time I reload my Pandora on my computer tab that auto-play is disabled. I know it is - I've had issues with it giving me errors in the past and don't want it on. But this popup continues to come up every time i reload a page without logging out, and I can't do anything without interacting with it. Which means I'm confirming this sometimes multiple times a day.
If I tell it "show me how" then don't actually enable auto play, will it leave me alone?
This is happening on multiple different Windows platforms accessed via internet browser. I do not have the Pandora app and cannot use it.

Celtic and folk stuff (along with similar instrumental style pieces with a lot of violin/piano) are what I listen to 99% of the time on there. Don't be embarrassed about that! Celtic is my favorite music genre. My guilty pleasure is probably my Friends in Low Places one. I don't listen to country music super often, but I'm just in the mood for it on occasion, and I steered that station toward the more fun upbeat ones. And I didn't realize how old the OG post on here was because the comments since are more recent. Oops. 😛

Okay, thanks. I'm thinking the guitar picking feature on Adagio might be one of the issues messing up my most-used station (see earlier comments we've had on other sections of the forums) where it randomly tries to throw in jazzy guitar etc. which doesn't match at all.

This might be in the wrong section, so apologies. Search results aren't giving me anything, and the system isn't letting me place or label it in a way that makes sense. 😞 Is there a way to report when a song lists incorrect "Features" on a track? I've noticed issues on a couple frequently-played tunes so far and wonder if it might be messing with algorithms. EX: Adagio by Secret Garden is listed as having "a good dose of acoustic guitar pickin' " There is plucked violin in the background, but - there is no guitar in that track that I can discern. Since there are other Adagio pieces out there for acoustic guitar that this track might've been based off of, I'm wondering if things got mixed up? Similarly, Sargasso Sea by Suzanne Ciani is listed as using Mellow Rock Instrumentation, but it's a moody string and piano piece - no guitar or drums or anything I'd qualify as rock. May or may not be incorrect - not sure what qualifies as rock instrumentation to the system.

Perhaps a correction is necessary on my side. If I recall, the button to start a station from an artist used to be a Play icon either over the artist’s icon or directly below it. It seems that is now some “Play Top Songs” option. There is a station button, but it’s been shoved to a smaller position to the left. I’m assuming this happened a long time ago, since all these station issue names and such also are old. While I have had Pandora refuse to start a new station for artists in the past from the “Start Station from Artist” button while on my main page, I couldn’t tell you precisely who. Again, we’re talking months-old information at the earliest, perhaps a year + at this point. I probably just gave up looking into their music and forgot about them because of it. And I don’t want to steer too far off the original concept of this thread. The point still stands that some of my personally-created stations had their names etc. changed a long time ago without my doing, around the time the Station Tuning was rolled out. So it’s not entirely users selecting genre stations instead of starting their own. Whether or not this issue will spring up again in the future shall obviously wait to be seen. I'm streaming online from the newest version of Firefox and always have. Do not have permissions to download any apps etc. on this device.

I will, though it could be literally months + if anything happens. Again, this change happened for me a LONG while back, possibly when the channel tuning came in. I've also noticed my one that was originally named after Benjamin Britten became "Regency and Classical" somehow. That probably happened around the same time. I'm wondering if it has something to due with altering how new stations are formed. I can no longer start a new collection from an individual artist, as I did when the account was new. It seems I have to pick one of their songs instead. Or if I can, I don't see how. The stations that changed seemed to mostly be ones named after artists instead of songs.

I apologize, but I have to concur with the other users saying they had individual stations that have turned into genre ones or changed names without permission. This is not always users accidentally clicking on a a genre station. My Chasing the Sun station was turned into "Pop and Rock," and while it hasn't so far treated it as a genre station and still lets me edit it, it had changed the album it pulled the original seed song from. I had Chasing the Sun from a single release version of the song, and it switched it to the same song listed on a dance compilation album, changing my collection cover image to the album cover with a scantily clad woman the same time it changed the station name. I've since deleted that seed as I'm tired of looking at it, but the collection is still labeled "Pop Rock" even though I have never named it as such. I never sought help on it because it still let me edit the station, but it's a shared experience. Similarly, my Puddle of Mudd station is now called Metal/Rockand changed whatever album used to be displayed. The best guess I can come up with is that the original seed becomes unavailable, or, in cases like my Chasing the Sun one, Pandora's system bugs out the album/single it's pulling the seed song from, when multiple are available. It then doesn't have the original seed song in there and gives it a genre name in replacement.

This Feature Request for this option has existed since September 2019 with no feedback on whether it will ever be implemented. Seems like directing people here is a waste of time at this point? I have a specific artist or two I cannot thumb down on stations because their musical style is, essentially, exactly in tune with my station and would mess up the algorithm to say I disliked. I just cannot stand a specific aspect of that artist, such as the singer's voice, which is subjective and not something the algorithm can understand. I have tried giving a specific song or two of theirs a thumb-down or "I'm tried of this song" in the past to no avail and again, don't want to mess up my station by telling it the genre I want to hear isn't correct.

Should I expect a reply to take a couple weeks? Just curious since I haven't heard back. I tried earlier to access my Pandora through Chrome to change the station that way, but it looks like it's still reverting back. Unfortunately I can't download desktop apps on all the places I access, since some are work devices. Thanks for all the attempts at help so far. 🙂 If this keeps up, I might just end up deleting the station and trying to create it anew to see if that solves the issue. That would be a pain in the neck, but it's one of my 'louder' stations and not my typical fare. It's really jarring to start the workday expecting quiet background music and getting blasted with electric guitar instead. Side note _ I had Pandora open unusually late last night, and the station order is correct this morning. That reinforces an earlier experience I had - The issue seems to arise only when I go about 12 hours+ without being logged in.

I don't think this is something that has ever been mentioned in the works, but I've always thought it would be useful - a way to block or generally stop a specific artist from showing up on a station WITHOUT downvoting their songs there. There is a band or two where their actual style exactly matches what I want for the station, but I'm not a fan of the band themselves for various reasons (e.g. - the vocalist has a specific sound that I absolutely can't stand). I have downvoted some of their music in the past but don't want to do it every time they come up, as stylistically they match the station. I'm afraid too many downvotes would start twisting the station away from the style I want by telling Pandora I don't like it. My distaste is based on a subjective opinion and not anything the algorithm would pick up.

I just replied to it, thank you. I have noticed though, that this issue is happening across multiple IP addresses/computers/locations, so I don't know if the data for one specific computer will really have a solution. I am using Firefox on and Windows 10 on all of them. But otherwise, the information might be different from computer to computer.

Update - this unfortunately did not solve the problem. The incorrect playlist was up at the top again this morning. I also did not address rebooting my computer from the previous message - this issue has been happening for a couple weeks across multiple reboots, and in fact it started up while using my previous computer. I was on Windows 7 as of 2 weeks ago, and changing to a completely different computer and Windows 10 has not made a difference.
