What you’re running into is tied to a feature called Auto-Start. The instructions you found are correct in general, but that setting is currently only available for Pandora Plus and Pandora Premium subscribers. On the free service, that toggle won’t appear in the app, which is why you’re not seeing the option described. If having control over Auto-Start is important to you, a great next step would be to share that feedback directly with our product team. You can do that by posting in our Ideas space.
