Hi @dbuelke! Thanks for the follow up! Installing CarPlay, I believe, depends on your vehicle manufacturer and your vehicle. I would reach out to GMC for further details.  In the meantime, feel free to take a picture of your infotainment screen when you're connected, and I can confirm how you're connecting.  You can include pictures directly here in this thread.
