I've found that if I don't want to hear certain versions of songs, I just use the I'm tired of this track feature when they come up, that way they are put on the shelf for a while for all stations and I am not thumbing songs down by that artist which might cause other songs by that artist not to play.

what if the different version has the same song title without the words re-recorded etc...in the title?

there needs to be a feature that allows you to ban remixed and re-recorded versions of songs. for example, great white made a new recording of once bitten twice shy and now none of my stations ever play the original version of the song they did and it's really frustrating. the version doesn't say "re-recorded" in the title but it is a new version on a greatest hits album. now I can only play the orginal album cut if I put it in a playlist or play it on demand. it's terribly frustrating.

So I did an experiment: my hard rock stations were all playing the same songs, ones that had been thumbed up recently in other hard rock stations of mine. I kept getting the same songs from artists no matter what new hard rock stations I created. I decided to create an additional station and use artist only mode, thumbing up most of the songs from the artists, I kept changing the seed to different artists that I like and thumbing up tracks. after a lot of work I went back to one of my hard rock stations and boom now it’s playing tons of variety from those artists because I had thumbed up all their songs on another station Proof that thumbs up are not just affecting the station you thumb them up on

yep. stupid. why isn't there an undo feature for shelved songs? seems pretty simple to me. jI like pandora overall, but this is just one of the many headscratching quirks about it

I agree that we should be able to see what songs have been "shelved" and then go into that list and remove it from the "shelf" so that it plays again. This thing about it gets shelved but no one knows for how long is ridiculous. how the heck could a company program something that lasts for an indefinite undetermined amount of time? if you program it, then you should know how long a song is shelved for easy solution: let us unshelve songs manually.

I am now experiencing the same issues that others are experiencing. If I thumb up a song on one station and then play another station that's sort of similar suddenly the songs playing are the ones that I thumbed up on other stations that are similar. for example, I have a lot of rock stations and as I thumb up songs from one station and then go play another of my rock stations suddenly the same song I thumbed on that other station plays almost immediately on the second station. It didn't used to be this way. I've also found that I have some longtime stations, like an 80's station that I made years ago that was perfect, with lots of thumbs up of popular songs, but now it's suddenly playing deep cuts and I don't want that for that station. I do thumb up a lot of deep cuts on my rock stations, and what I'm thinking is that pandora is trying to "learn" what I like to listen to overall as a listener, thinking I like deep cuts, but I don't want it to function that way. I have spent years tailoring stations based up just what is on those stations, and now everything has suddenly changed the way it behaves and i don't like it. I'm having to create more stations to try and achieve the results that I had worked on for years but it's not working. It's almost like I have to delete every single station and thumb I've ever created on pandora and start completely from scratch ,and that's over a 100 stations and probably 50,000 or more thumbs. terribly disheartening.

from my experience if you thumb down too many tracks from an artist, it starts to not play on that station, or plays very rarely.

my suggestion would be to hit "I'm tired of this track" for every song that plays from that horrible album you don't like. This will take it off all stations but will not prevent the regular versions or other billie holiday songs from playing.

I've found that pandora displays roughly the last 30 songs you have listened to on a station. It used to display all of them, because I used to run my stations overnight and then in the morning check to see what played so I could thumb up what I liked and pandora would play a wide variety. if you thumb them up as they play, it tends to start repeating those artists. as for losing connectivity and going offline - yeah, once that happens the recently played list is gone, which **ahem**. it's happened to me in the past. there is hope though, if you really want to thumb that song up go into artist only mode on that station and add that song as a seed, then play under artist only mode -the song may come up right away, otherwise keep hitting skip until it does.

I wish there was a way to create other thumbprint radio stations and tell each thumbprint station what other stations you want to pull the thumbs from fir that particular station.
for example: I have a lot of hard rock and metal stations but I also have lighter listening stations, and I’d like to take just the thumbs from those heavier stations and create a thumbprint based on that, then take the thumbs from my lighter listening stations and create a different thumbprint radio station based on the thumbs from those lighter listening stations

This is an excellent feature that I was just going to post about until I saw this. Would be awesome to be able to group stations in shuffles and save them and then play them just like you would do with a single station.

I would like to see a feature to give you the option on a station to not repeat the same artist for X number of songs and also one to not repeat the same song for X number of songs.
