Android: App keeps closing or plays unexpectedly

Yup having somewhat similar issues I'm using a galaxy ultra s20. The app just shuts off while my media is going. I'm grateful for the jeff cavins show that's basically the main thing I use it for but it's kind of annoying when I'm walking long distances to school and my media shuts off so I have to take it out and bring it up again cause I have to focus on traffic/other things so it's a bit of trouble. I mean a lot of the time.it.works fine but then the thing trips.out.

@Pattylabelle Sorry to hear about the trouble.

Could you explain what's happening in more detail? The more information you can provide, the better I can help.

When this issue occurs:

  • Is the app still open in the background where you're able to press play and resume music or do you need to close and relaunch the app to continue listening?
  • Are you listening to a station, album, playlist, or podcast?
  • Are you connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data?
    •  If using Wi-Fi, are you able to recover the listening session by toggling Wi-Fi off?
  • Are you using a Bluetooth connection?

Additionally, please provide your device model, Android OS, One UI (if on Samsung), and Pandora app versions:

  • Model: galaxy ultra s20
  • Android version (Settings > About Phone > Android version):
  • One UI version: (Settings > About Phone > Software information):
  • Pandora version (Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Find Pandora):

Thanks for your help!

Android version 13

U.i version 5.1

Pandora version 2501.1

I was listening to Bluetooth headphones and the app shut off for no reason. I brought up the app again and my place was not saved in the teaching I was listening to I had to find my place again. On another occasion I think after I shut off my headphones the app started to play for no reason. I had to restart my phone to shut it off I think I don't remember but I'll start paying attention to more details if it happens again. I've been using the app this morning with my headphones for an hour or two however and there's been no issues maybe its fixed already.

@Pattylabelle Thanks for following up with that information.

It sounds like you are experiencing two separate issues:

  1. Music randomly stops when listening to Pandora via bluetooth headphones
  2. Pandora starts randomly playing when app is closed after disconnecting from bluetooth

In regards to the second issue you reported, does the app play with sound from your phone speakers after disconnecting from bluetooth?

Let me know.

Hello am having an issue with the pandora app it keeps shutting off for no reason on offline mode while not using my Bluetooth headphones. It happened already 3 times today it shuts off about 10 or so minutes of listening to my media. The most frustrating part is losing my place in the teachings I listen to and having to find my place again. Basically the whole app shuts down and I have to restart it from.begining. this is while just playing through my phones speakers NOT using Bluetooth OFFLINE MODE

@Pattylabelle To keep things organized, I moved your post to the existing thread: Android: App keeps closing or plays unexpectedly

When updating the OS on Android devices, the battery optimization on all apps may be automatically turned back on by default. This can cause performance issues or interfere with playback when the app is backgrounded.

Please try the following steps:

  • Open your device Settings and then Apps.
  • Scroll to find Pandora or use Search in the upper right hand corner.
  • Select Battery
  • Next select Unrestricted.

Due to the numerous models of Android devices, we are unable to provide step by step instructions for every device. Please look up the steps to manage battery optimization for the specific make and model of your device and disable this for the Pandora app if the above does not apply.

Let me know how it goes.
