Android: Pandora doesn't automatically play when connecting to bluetooth

Pandora no longer automatically resumes playback in the android app when connecting to speakers/headphones via bluetooth. I've enabled all relevant settings in the app, enabled them in android auto even though I'm not using it, checked for any relevant settings in apps for the two headphones/earbuds I use.

Other apps like Musicolet still resume playback normally, Pandora just stopped doing it a couple weeks ago.

Hi @blueberrynapalm

Welcome to community!

To clarify, for example, you're listening to Pandora on your Android phone, put in your Bluetooth headphones, your Android connects, but Pandora pauses instead of playing through your headphones? Does that sound correct?

Can you confirm your OS and Pandora version?

Have you tried clearing the App Data yet? If not, I would give it a try to see if it helps to improve your experience.

You can do this by:

  1. Open your device Settings
  2. Tap Apps
  3. Scroll down to find Pandora
  4. Select Storage
  5. On the storage details page tap Clear Data.

Please note, that you may be signed out of the app and you may need to re-download some of your offline content once again.

Let me know how it goes!

I have tried this, but it did not fix the issue. To clarify the problem:

I begin with pandora open, but not playing. I connect my headphones. Prior to 2 weeks-ish ago, the expected behavior was that pandora would begin playing whatever was currently paused. Now, Pandora just doesn't play until I manually press Play. I have the 'launch in car' enabled and such. Have cleared data, cache, restarted, reinstalled pandora and restarted.

Pandora: 2411.1

Android: 14

Phone: S23 Ultra

Account is premium, if that matters.

@blueberrynapalm Thanks for following up with that information.

Also to clarify, are you only experiencing this issue with Pandora?

Have you tried streaming other apps such as YouTube?

If not, please try launching the YouTube app and let me know if you experience similar issues there as well.

Thanks for your patience.

Only Pandora, yes. Musicolet (app for playing local music files), Youtube and Audible all function as expected.

@blueberrynapalm I know you mentioned you have Launch From Car enabled, however can you please also confirm if you have Auto-Start enabled?

That option would be located in your Advanced settings as well.

Also just to clarify, does the music automatically start when you are not connected to a bluetooth device when launching the app?

Let me know.
