For the past few weeks anytime I use Pandora after a few seconds of a song play it will cut off as if I have press pause and when I go back to the app it opens up as if I'm logging on for the first time.
This happens wither Im on wifi or on mobile data. My phone is an LG Stylo 6 and the version of Pandora I have is version 2007.1
I have restarted my phone cleared the catches and data on the app. I even have uninstalled Pandora and I still have this problem. I even made sure that it it wasn't my battery saver cutting off the app. I did not run into this problem until I upgrade to Pandora premium.
Moderator Edit: Edited title for clarity
I eliminated this same symptom on my Galaxy S10 by removing Pandora from my phone's list of sleeping apps as outlined in the instructions referenced above. I recommend anyone with a similar setup experiencing the described symptom to take a look at sleeping apps first, before doing anything else to their phone.
Great suggestion, @kjskipper!
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. We discovered that many listeners were experiencing issues with the sleeping apps and that was causing the app to stop when backgrounded.
Hope to see you around the community space more often.
Something happened in the last few days on my Android phone to where my Pandora I'm no longer play if other apps are in use. After a new page loads in Chrome Pandora stops playing and when I click on the app again it loads with a flashing Pandora icon as if it is starting the app again and restarts the song I was on from the beginning. Ive noticed it will allow me to use messenger without stopping play until I begin to type in the box. Ive spent hours reading through troubleshooting online changed all battery saving settings and play in background permissions etc. HELP
My phone updated and now when I turn on my pandora, it will play about 20 seconds of a song and down

@Bretdunk5 I found this troubleshoot for your problem, try this and see if it helps. If you haven't already, turn off the power saving mode or plug your phone in when you are listening to Pandora since that will temporarily turn off power save mode. Best wishes, take care and stay safe.
Hey there, @Bretdunk5 @KtCameron. 👋
In addition to @MOHLovesAlaska's helpful suggestion, I would recommend checking out the accepted solution for this post here.
If you're using a Samsung device, please check your sleeping apps setting as this may impact your listening session. You can find more info about this in this thread.
I hope this helps! 🎧
I am having the same issue same phone software. I have sprint service. It happens when the pandora is backgrounded by most apps. Always does it with my games. Has there been any progress with this issue?
Hi there, @Derrick. 👋
Thanks so much for posting about this.

If you continue to have trouble with this, please provide the following details so that I can share this with our engineering team on your behalf:
Are you connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data when this is happening?
Have you identified any other patterns or notable information?
Let me know what you can find out. 🎧
Yes, as soon as you open another app or Google it exits out of the app. Hence shutting the music off.
Hi, @Kkanie14. 👋
Thanks for clarifying. When updating the OS on Android devices, the battery optimization on all apps may be automatically turned back on by default.
This can cause performance issues or interfere with playback when the app is backgrounded. Due to the sheer volume of Android devices, we are unable to provide step by step instructions for each and every device. I recommend looking up the steps to manage battery optimization for the specific make and model of your device and disable this for the Pandora app.
If you own a Samsung device, you may also want to check your Sleeping Apps settings.

Everytime I try to run pandora in the background it shuts off
@Juggaloryda33 Could you tell me a bit more about what is happening?
When you say "it shuts off" does the app completely close? Or does the music just pause?
Also, are you listening to Pandora on a computer or on a device?
Thanks for working with me on this. 🤝
I have the app on my lg tv and my lg stylo 5 and it fully shuts off I have to reopen the app. It wont run in the background of messages or just when I shut my screen off on my phone never had this problem before no issues on the tv tho
Nvm my dude I figured it out the settings were on to stop the app in the background

This started recently and I've read the forums, cleared cache and data and still.
Whenever I play pandora and when I lock my phone or I start using other apps it turns off after a couple of seconds. Pandora won't stay and continue playing unless I leave my phone and app completely open.
what is going on? I'm paying for premium so I can listen while I'm in the subway and listen offline and even then it turns off if I don't have my phone screen open.
please please help, I love pandora I don't want to switch.

Let us know how it goes. 🎧
So my Pandora app keeps crashing when my phone goes to stand bye. It will even crash when the music is paused and it goes to background play. I have a google pixel 4a 5g running android 11. The settings are set to play in the background. Battery saver is off. I followed all recommended instructions on the help page. No luck. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks, Brandon.
