Welcome to Tanner's Tips!

This post is dedicated to all the great features that Pandora has to offer. Each week I'll be talking about and breaking down a Pandora feature in detail. Some of you may be using these features every day and others maybe not so much. My goal is to introduce something new and fun to your Pandora experience. Thanks for listening! 🎧

DESKTOP APP

  • Device: Windows & Apple
  • SubscriptionFree (Ad-supported), Plus, Premium (individual), Premium Family

What's better than listening to Pandora on the web? Listening to Pandora on the desktop app! 💻 I have to say, I use the desktop app more than web. It's easy, convenient and works great!

The desktop app is available on both Apple and Windows computers.

Here's how to download the app:

Macs

You can install the Pandora desktop app from a Mac computer here.

Open the downloaded file and follow the prompts to complete the installation.

*Minimum System Requirements: Mac OS 10.10 Yosemite or later.

Windows

You can find the Pandora app in the Windows Store on your device. Search for Pandora in the upper right corner and click Get to install.

Downloading any app from the Windows Store will require that you have a Microsoft account and password. The email address and password for your Microsoft account may be different than those on your Pandora account.

Check out these handy steps to customize your experience:

Auto-launch and login settings:

You can adjust your settings to keep Pandora from launching with your computer or playing automatically.

To do that on a Mac:

  1. Open System Preferences.
  2. Go to Users & Groups.
  3. Click Login Items (next to Password).
  4. Select Pandora.
  5. Click the subtract ( - ) icon at the bottom of that list.

To do that on Windows:

  1. Right-click the Start button.
  2. Select Task Manager.
  3. Click the Startup tab. (If you don't see the Startup tab, select More details.)
  4. Select Pandora.
  5. Select Disable.

Don't forget about these helpful keyboard shortcuts:

If you have media keys (volume, play/pause, skip) on your keyboard, you can use them to control playback on the Pandora desktop app.

Other shortcuts on Mac:

  • Play/ Pause: Space
  • Skip Forward: ⌘→
  • Skip Backward: ⌘←
  • Shuffle: ⌘S
  • Repeat: ⌘G
  • Thumb Up: ⇧⌘↑
  • Thumb Down: ⇧⌘↓

Other shortcuts on PC:

  • Play/ Pause: Space
  • Skip Forward: Ctrl→
  • Skip Backward: Ctrl←
  • Shuffle: Ctrl S
  • Repeat: Ctrl G
  • Thumb Up: ⇧Ctrl↑
  • Thumb Down: ⇧Ctrl↓
  • Thumb Down: ⇧Ctrl↓

Want to filter that explicit content? Check it out:

Setting your Explicit Content filter will restrict Pandora from playing tracks on your stations or displaying ads with explicit language.

Remember, this will not censor tracks, albums, podcasts or playlists with "E" labels.

To adjust your filter from the desktop app:

  1. Click the icon (initial or picture) in the top right corner.
  2. Select Settings then Content Settings.
  3. Toggle the Explicit Content switch ON to allow explicit content or OFF to restrict explicit content.
  4. Enter your password to confirm changes.

Please note: while setting your Explicit Content filter from the desktop app will also affect your account on any mobile devices and the web, it will not affect in-home devices such as game systems, TVs and Blu-ray players. These devices filter explicit content by default because they are frequently used in family settings.

To find steps to adjust the Explicit Content filter on these devices, visit In the Home / On the Go.

How do you feel about Notifications?

I would have to agree - this is a great alternative to using the website when you are on a computer.
