Web: Popping, hissing, clicking noises during streaming

Starting 8.24.23, I now hear loud clicking, popping noises while streaming on chrome desktop.  The noises are louder than the music and alarming.  Sounds like I'm listening to someone work at their desk!!  Please help.

Hi there, @TQB75. 👋

Thanks for raising your concern, and sorry to hear this is happening.

I'd like to gather a few more details about your experience.

  1. Is it possible that this related to an advertisement you're hearing?
    • If so, what was the ad for? Do you remember the brand, product, event or website name?
    • Was it a visual ad, an audio ad, or a video ad with audio?
  2. What station(s) are you listening to when this occurs?
  3. Could you write down the next time this happens and share the time / station name with me?
  4. Do you have any other windows / tabs open when this happens?

I appreciate your help with this. 🎧

No, there is no ad playing

The station is Silversun Pickups.

The noises happened constantly, all day yesterday, between 9am - 7:30pm.  It is now 10:31 am, I just turned the station on, and have heard 3 clicks already.

I have a tab open for GMail, and for this window.

Hey, @TQB75. 👋

Thanks for providing those additional details.

If you're still having trouble with this today, let's try these steps to see if it helps:

1.  Update Chrome.

2. Clear Browsing Data (including browsing history, cache and cookies):

  • Click on the icon with 3 vertical dots in the upper right (located on the browser toolbar).
  • Select More Tools and then Clear Browsing Data.
  • On this screen, please select All time for the time range, and then click on Clear Data.
  • Restart the browser and go back to pandora.com.

3. Bypass the Pop-up Blocker for Pandora:

  • Again, click the 3 vertical dots in the upper right, and select Settings.
  • Scroll down and click Advanced at the bottom.
  • Under Privacy and security, click Site Settings.
  • Click Popups and redirects. Under allow make sure pandora.com is listed. If not listed, Add https://www.pandora.com.

4. Try a different browser.

Using a different browser such as Firefox may help.

5. Restart your computer and try Pandora again.

Hi - thanks for the quick response.  Pop-up blocker IS disabled for Pandora in Chrome.  Unfortunately, I can't check for updates because i'm not an admin.  I did clear the Browsing Data and restart.  Still popping.

I tried to download and use Firefox instead, but Pandora won't work - it tells me to disable ad and pop up blockers, which i have done, and restarted, but it still won't work.

As a last resort, I have Microsoft Edge so I tried that - same popping/snapping sounds using this browser.

Help?  Seems like Firefox might be a good option, but i can't figure out why it still won't run.

Thanks!

Hi there, @TQB75. 👋

I've reported this over to our tech team on your behalf.

Could you confirm whether this only happens on that specific station?
