Amazon Alexa: Plays unknown station

robinbarrett

When I ask Alexa, play music, or play music on Pandora, it responds by saying "Playing Mali Radio."

Mali radio IS NOT one of my stations. I don't like the music. I don't want it to be a station. I delete it from Pandora constantly.

This is not someone else listening to my stations. The words Mali or anything close to it never enter my voice commands. What does it insist on creating this station.  It's the absolutely worst music.

Why is this my Default.  It's insane!  Please tell me how to fix this.

Hi @robinbarrett

Welcome to community!

Sorry for any trouble when listening through your Alexa Devices.

As I understand it, Pandora does not have a default station when requesting playback through Alexa devices. In most cases it should play the station that was last listened to.

If you're having trouble with Alexa understanding your commands you might want to log into your Amazon account to view what Alexa thinks you said, in order to report feedback to Amazon directly. This is referred to as your "Utterance History report."

To view your utterance history report, click this link from a computer and log into your Alexa account. Or from a mobile device launch the Alexa app, tap the Menu icon, select Activity and then More under Pandora activity.

From here you'll be able to view what Alexa thought she heard, as well as listen to a recording of what you said. If she didn't do what you wanted, be sure to let Amazon know by selecting No.

I'm also happy to pass this along to our engineering team for further review. In the meantime, I would recommend using a more specific voice command to request the station you would like to listen to. You can say "Alexa, play [name of station] radio on Pandora." Keep in mind that if Alexa is unable to find what you've requested, she may add a station that does not exactly match what you requested. You may need to try again from a computer or mobile device.

Why is it CREATING a station I never had? I say play Pandora radio and it says playing Mali radio.  I've deleted Mali radio many times after this, it keeps being added.

Hi @robinbarrett

Sorry to hear you're still having trouble with Alexa.

When requesting Pandora through an Alexa Amazon device, be sure to be specific as possible. Requesting the exact name of the station you'd like to listen to will help Alexa.

If Alexa continues to misunderstand what you are saying, I recommend reviewing what Alexa thinks you said and submitting a report to Alexa. To view the utterance history report, click this link from a computer and log into your Alexa account or to review from your mobile device launch the Alexa app, tap the Menu icon, select Activity and then More under Pandora activity.

Additionally, I've gone ahead and passed this along to our engineering team for further review as well.
