Apple Homepod: Music stops playing after ad

Jonny2

Hi, I have been experiencing this issue for a few weeks.  When I ask Siri to play pandora natively on the HomePod mini, it will sometimes stop playing after a song and sometimes stop after an ad. It has nothing to do with a phone because the phone/account can leave the house and it can still keep going until its stops for an unknown reason.  It’s actually still playing, but no sound comes out.  If I stop it and the play again, the music continues at the correct volume.

Hi @Jonny2

I wanted to check in and see if you’re still running into trouble with music stopping after an ad on your HomePod.

I was actually able to reproduce that same behavior on my end earlier, but I’m not seeing it happen anymore. After the ad finishes, the music now resumes as expected.

A couple of things that may or may not be relevant on your side, I updated to the latest version of Pandora, and my HomePods are now on 26.4. I also had to unlink and relink Pandora during the process, but once everything was set back up, playback worked normally again.

Are you seeing the same thing now, or is it still stopping after ads for you?

Hi @Jonny2 , welcome to the Pandora community!

I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your HomePod.

Lets try some troubleshooting steps and see of that helps:

First, let's check if there are any updates available for your HomePod and Pandora apps. Update both as necessary.

If you are up to date, please restart your HomePod device.

After that, try unlinking and relinking your Pandora account.

  • To unlink, open the Home app on your iOS device:
    • Tap the three dots at the top left of the screen
    • Tap Home Settings
    • Tap your iCloud avatar to view personal settings
    • Select Pandora and then Remove Pandora from Home
  • To re-link, open the Pandora app on your iOS device:
    • Open the Pandora app on your iOS device.
    • Go to Profile and tap Settings.
    • Next select Connect with HomePod
    • Then tap Use in Home.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi MariaPandora,

I have tried all of those steps. I have also tried deleting pandora from
my phone and redownloading it. I have tried using my account as linking to
the homepod and also my wife's account. The homepod will still play a
couple of songs and then stop. When i look at my phone I can see the song
is still playing as the time bar is moving, but there is no sounds coming
from the homepod. The only workaround is to press pause on my phone and
press play again. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Jon
