I am truly curious, I have seen multiple times how that it’s the people who use the free service that sometimes complain the loudest. If you use the free service , do you feel entitled to complain about service you aren’t paying for? Threatening to leave a service you aren’t paying for seems like an odd approach to the situation. The cost for Podcast to obtain the license to offer the music is extremely high. For example: Spotify, for instance, has reported to pay 70% of its revenue to rights holders. In 2018, Spotify paid around $1.8 billion in royalties to music rights holders. How would you like Pandora to cover the cost for you to listen and cover the royalties for the songs you listen to? There are a few options since you are using the free service. 1. advertising, they have to have enough advertisements to not just cover the cost but to make money, Pandora is a business, it’s not a charity. 2. They could charge those who pay for the service so much that it covers the cost of those who use the free service. That seems not only ridiculous but unreasonable. . It’s never fun to not have enough money to pay for a service you desperately want. Pandora does offer the Plus plan which is $4.99 per month. It isn’t as good as Pandora Premium but it’s cheaper than every major streaming service. All music streaming services have raised their prices and we should probably all expect another increase within the next few years. I hope you can find a solution that works for you.
