After speaking to a few people at Bose, I got one guy who told me it’s a known issue with Google Assistant, not the speaker or Pandora.  We tested all 3 and that’s what we discovered.  it took almost a month, but Google finally ALMOST fixed the issue. my speaker will now play music when I tell it, but it will not pause if I tell it,  and it will not restart if I manually paused it!  Not sure if they will ever fix this ...
