As it turns out, he was trying to join on his phone. It might help to note someplace that that first interaction needs to be on a desktop. Once he got off the mobile device and used a desktop, he was able to setup his account and find his playlists. Thank you, all is well!

I had a premium subscription, it expired last week. My wife just upgraded her premium subscription to a family plan. She invited me. I have tried repeatedly to join, but it still shows me on the free plan. How can I join the family plan and carry over my stations and playlists? HELP!
