In response to Voodoomagnetman and everyone else who expresses frustration with being ignored when requesting a sound quality upgrade: As a roughly 20yr subscriber, I am well aware of the ongoing discussion around the noticeable inferior sound quality of Pandora relative to most of the other streaming services.  Pandora outperforms the others with their Genome Project but that is all.  Their user interface is also quite good. The Pandora/Sirius staff know all about continual listener requests for an upgrade but choose to ignore.  This has been going on for years now with no explanation which translates into listeners accepting the fact that Pandora/Sirius isn't interested in being competitive in sound quality.  I figure it has to do with SiriusXM buying them out for 3.5billion in 2019 and despite the subsequent bleeding of subscribers and inferior sound quality, ad revenue remains strong.  Therefore SiriusXM has no monetary incentive to upgrade Pandora sound quality.  Unfortunately those in charge are not audiophiles.  Just do a search by typing in:  "who owns Pandora Music" and read all about it.   ... As much as I would like improved audio quality (higher bitrate than 128kbps), the price for Pandora Plus cannot be beat.  Plus, love the Genome project, user interface, and overall simplicity of the entire site.   Frankly, realistically, for $5/mth, what should I expect. Has anyone from Pandora explained here what the primary obstacle or reason for not improving available audio quality?  Greater than 128kbps.  What would the bit rate have to be for it to be noticeably better than 128kbps? Thanks Gerald. Connecting my AVR to TV via HDMI 2.0 cable and ARC inputs instead of of toslink/optical makes a very noticeable difference in Pandora audio quality.  Sounds like more information is being transmitted using HDMI/ARC. ... View more

AlyssaPandora, Long time Pandora Plus subscriber here, streaming via Hisense Roku smart TV.  Listening via my AVR and quality tower speakers. For clarity: are you saying I cannot stream 192Kbps but am limited to 128? That 128 is the highest bitrate that Pandora Plus offers and only Premium subscribers can stream 192?  If I was a Premium subscriber, can I stream 192 with my current set up? I switched to streaming Pandora via HDMI ARC on my smart TV from an optical/toslink connection and the audio quality noticeably improved. I listen to Pandora in stereo 2.0 using an AVR, all quality components. I totally agree that the overall streaming audio should be upgraded.  It is time.  Hope the Pandora honchos agree. ... View more
