@dewine Pandora will never play the seed songs. The response from @AdamPandora implies that they may play at some point, but I've proven, beyond any doubt, that seed songs never play, regardless of your account type. The powers that be at Pandora don't seem to have any interest in changing the way it works.

Seed songs never play on Pandora Radio even with a Premium account
I tested both Pandora Plus and Pandora Premium. I selected my "Cooley Street" station which has 16 seed songs. I logged more than 800 plays. Yes, 800.
Total number of times a seed song played on Pandora Plus: 0
Total number of times a seed song played on Pandora Premium: 0
Yes, I understand that the powers that be don't want users to be able to game Pandora radio to work like a playlist, but this is ridiculous. A reasonable person would expect that a seed song would have just as much chance of being played as any other song that fits the station's profile. No more, no less.
Seed songs are clearly being blocked on Pandora radio. 800 plays is easily proof of that, especially considering that the station mostly repeats about 200 songs (another issue for another day).
It's especially aggravating that upgrading to a Premium account makes no difference. But hey, it doesn't have to be account based. As long as your algorithms don't pick seed songs any more often than other songs that fit the station profile, it's not going to be a playlist substitute.
Your programmers can fix this!
Please 1) confirm that, yes, seed songs never play on Pandora radio, and 2) tell us what is being done to address this issue or, if it's truly intentional, why?
Please do not suggest making a playlist. That's the standard response I've seen time and again on this board. It doesn't help with radio mode. And yes, I know that I can remove all the seed songs and instead add the artists and then thumbs up those songs when they play. But that changes the station. I may like a single song from an artist (and would like that song to play once in a while) but may not necessarily like other songs from that artist. That approach may work alright eventually (if I'm diligent with my thumbing), but I shouldn't have to go to all that effort to fix something that can, and should, be fixed on Pandora's end.

I see exactly the same issue as esliu using pandora plus. I'm sorry adampandora, but I think your answer is not helpful at all. You said "For complete control of what you hear on pandora, try pandora premium. It combines our industry leading internet radio service with on-demand listening and easy playlist generation".
You're not actually saying that the radio feature plays seed songs, just as often as other songs, if you subscribe to premium, but that you can instead listen on-demand with playlists. That's not a solution. I use pandora for the radio feature. I already have subscriptions to spotify and youtube music for playlists. Switching my playlist listening to pandora does not help me! I want the pandora music genome approach to radio. I just want it to also play my seed songs. Is that too much to ask?
The pandora programmers really need to take a look at this. My seed songs never play anymore, but plenty of songs from the same albums play all the time. This can't be a licensing issue. For example, on my playlist "Cooley street", I have the war on drugs songs "I don't wanna wait" and "Wasted" set as a seed songs. It no longer plays these song, ever, but it plays every other song from the album "I don't live here anymore" all the time. Every other seed song on that playlist has the same issue. And it's absolutely not a matter of listening long enough. I hear the same songs many times in one day via that playlist and never hear the seed songs.
This is clearly not a licensing issue. It's a software issue. Something's broken. Please have someone look at this in depth and fix it! Please!
And AdamPandora, if the truth is that your people have intentionally programmed the radio feature to never play seed songs, then just say so. Then, at least, I won't have to waste my time begging for it to be "fixed" and can move on to some other product.

Phone: Pixel 3A Pandora Version: 2101.1 Android version: 11 Some things for your UI designers to think about: The now playing display is different on Android phone, Android TV app, and casting to Android TV. Shouldn't they all be the same or, at least, very very similar? And why would one ever think it's a good idea to put the artist name and album name on the same line?

The problem is the now playing layout. The artist name needs to be on it's own line and the font sizes need to be reduced. Also, the ID of the caster doesn't need to be displayed (or at least could be much smaller).
Please note, the now playing screen of the Pandora app on Android (TV or phone) is just fine. The display issue is only when casting.
