Android: Repeat track icon doesn't work consistently

Not sure if this is site-wide or specific to the android app.

I have been having inconsistent results when playing a song on repeat. 

Sometimes it won't repeat the song at all, either skipping to the next song on the album/playlist or sometimes skipping the whole rest of the album and going straight to autoplay.

Sometimes it does repeat the song, and then is inconsistent with how many times it replays the same song before switching. 

I asked the ai help feature, and it said this kind of thing happens when a particular song is restricted by the record label.

But, I have been having this problem with many different songs- whether modern and popular or older and more obscure. Regardless of genre, release date, and/or popularity of the song.

Long story short, the pandora app has been treating "repeat 1" as an arbitrary suggestion rather than as a consistent feature

@CletusY Thanks for taking the time to share this — I can see why that would be frustrating, especially when you’re expecting repeat icon to behave consistently.

What you’re describing definitely isn’t the intended experience, so I’d like to dig in a bit more and see if we can narrow down what’s happening. I’ve enabled a trace on your account to help us better understand what’s happening, and for it to be useful, we’ll need you to try and reproduce the issue once more.

When you have a chance, could you test this again and take note of a few details?

  • The name of the track that doesn’t repeat while “repeat 1” is enabled
  • The name of the playlist or album you’re playing it from
  • What happens immediately after the song finishes:
    • Does it skip to the next track?
    • Jump to autoplay?
    • Repeat a few times and then switch?

Since you mentioned seeing different behaviors at different times, it would be especially helpful to know which specific outcome you observe when you test it again.

Appreciate you flagging this — once we have a bit more detail, we can take a closer look at what might be causing the inconsistency.

It's occurred across multiple songs, on albums more than playlists. It generally switches directly to autoplay, but in the "Top Songs" of Chocolate Watchband (does that count as a playlist? Or is it its own section?), for example, it switched to the next song down. 

Now that I mentioned this, it happens more often (but not exclusively) when using the search function to find the song.

@CletusY Thanks again taking the time to report this — I know how frustrating inconsistent repeat behavior can be.

Since we haven’t been able to reproduce this on our end just yet, could you help us take a closer look? When you get a chance, please send over a quick screen recording or screenshot showing the repeat setting in your player (specifically showing that it’s set to “Repeat 1") and what happens when the track ends.

Additionally, if you haven’t already, please try clearing the app data/cache on your device to rule out any temporary issues that might be affecting playback behavior.

This info will really help us narrow things down and get it in front of the right team if needed. Appreciate your help!
