Android: Skipping + Crashing

mbadour
Underground

Songs are randomly skipping.  Seems to be happening more often now.  I always listen on bluetooth through the android app, so either connected to headphones or my home audio.  It skips when I am nowhere near my phone.

The app crashes every time I start a podcast and go to another app or the home screen. I have to leave it up for 10 minutes before I can do anything else on my phone. It does it when I'm not connected to anything else and when I am connected to my car or headphones. It doesn't do this with music. Only podcasts. It's been an ongoing issue, even when I got a new phone. I've deleted, reinstalled and turned my phone on/off. Nothing works.

It was set on optimized. Changing to unrestricted seems to have worked. Thanks👍

Hey, @mbadour. 👋

Sorry to hear that you're encountering skipping and crashing during your listening sessions.

Have you tried clearing the app data to see if that helps?

If not, you can try out these steps: Android Troubleshooting

If the issue continues, I can report this over to our tech team on your behalf. It's helpful to know the following details about your device:

  • Model:
  • Carrier:
  • Android version (Settings > About Phone):
  • Pandora version:
    • If you can open Pandora, go to Profile, then select Settings. Scroll to the bottom of the screen for the version number.
    • If you can't open Pandora: from Android Home screen > Android Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Find Pandora
  • Are you connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data when this is happening?
  • Have you identified any other patterns or notable information?

Keep me in the loop! 🎧

I haven't had a song skip but the app still closes when I close the screen within 10 mins or so of starting a podcast.

Android 13

Usually connected to wifi and also closes when I'm "offline".

Hi @mbadour

Sorry for the continued trouble. Just to confirm, are the battery optimization settings for your Samsung disabled for Pandora?

If you're not sure, you can use these general steps to check:

  • Open your device Settings and then Apps.
  • Scroll to find Pandora or use Search in the upper right hand corner.
  • Select Battery
  • Next select Unrestricted.

Thanks!

Hi, @Poppop1971. 👋

Let's try running through these steps to see if that helps resolve the skipping and crashing you're experiencing.

Android Troubleshooting:

From your Android Settings, please try clearing the Pandora app data using the following steps (not to worry, we'll keep track of your profile and collection for you):*

  1. Open your device Settings
  2. Tap Apps
  3. Scroll down to find Pandora
  4. Select Storage
  5. On the storage details page tap Clear Data.

Keep in mind that the steps for each Android device is slightly different. If you have a Pixel, you can check out Google's help page for steps on how to clear space on your device.

Please note that you will be asked to log into your account after completing these steps. Let me know how it goes. 🎧

*Pandora Premium and Premium Family listeners may need to re-download some of their offline content after this. Pandora Plus users, however, should receive that offline content again automatically. If you have any trouble with your offline stations after this, please let us know.
