I dunno if she would be considered underrated but I really have been enjoying Ann-Marie's music. UK artist from Essex. Her first album was released in 2018, Speak Your Mind.

My favorite song to date is PSYCHO from the album Unhealthy.

Oh! I have another one - Orville Peck. I'm not a huge country fan but there is something about his voice that is deep and so rich. It's just really nice to listen to.

His latest album is Bronco is a great.

I'm really enjoying music by anaiis right now. She's is a French-Senegalese singer-songwriter based in London.

Song: chuu

Genre: Alternative R&B, soul

I'll have to think of a couple more artists over the weekend and add them to this thread. 👍

I'm a bit biased, but I do think that Slowdive should be a household name!

@Pandora in my personal opinion I think Valerie June needs to be on this list I accidentally came across her music about 2 ago years while searching for similar music that I was already listening to. Here are her top 3 songs, if and when you have time give them an ear 👂 I think you will be glad you did.

Wanna Be On Your Mind

Long Lonely Road

Slip Slide On By

My favorite songs by Valerie June are in this order 2,3,1 and I also have a few others that I like by her as well. Another important fact about Valerie June (at least here on Pandora) at the time I discovered her she had less than 130 monthly listeners, since Pandora has changed the music library it no longer shows how many monthly listeners a music artist has, it would be great if that feature was brought back.

Take care and GOD bless.

I was surprised when Pandora played Skeleton Coast, a very obscure band I'd never heard of.   They have one album from 2012 and I like it a lot.  There was some discussion online how they weren't available on streaming services a few years ago, but they seem to be there now.  They are on Bandcamp and that one album is available for pay what you like, so enjoy!  Pandora Premium users can listen to as part of your plan.

Funnily enough, we're opening for a bunch of shoegaze bands. Dark jazz + shoegaze - we'll see where that goes!

Artist here as "Jack Phantom and the Exquisite Corpse Cabaret" (jazz)

A good way to find incredible material from emerging artists is checking into production music. When I play certain tracks from the people of that world, they are generally blown away. There are thousands and they often do both indie and production music releases. This is because of the way the industry changed and people started making music for alternative formats than radio which requires the payola of record labels (thousands of dollars/gifts plus whatever else promotion material such as videos). An example would be my gifted associate Mars Lasar, he is on the inside track of some of the sync world but no one from the masses will have ever heard of him. He worked on the first Seal album:

VAST - John Crosby
One of the most talented musicians to walk the earth and most will never have heard of him:

ES Posthumus:

What's incredible about film and production music is that is an extension of classical music.  So you take the virtuosity and unchained quality of that kind of music to the current era and combine the production processing of modern tools. The great music of the latest era doesn't come through radio it comes from the TV/Film world so it doesn't reach mainstream and generally works as an underscore to motion pictures. It was previously easier to gain financial momentum through the sync industries than getting on label, they did not trap artists into the bad record deals. The pay was not as much but it was easier to get work and develop albeit via slower and more time consuming methods. The long game is absolutely brutal so many don't make it that way either.

Another thing is that the big name composers in hollywood use ghostwriters like these guys so you would never know who does the music and they stipulate in the contract that you can't sound that way again.

I don't know what kind of music you're into but you should check how many of the bands on this station you know

Oh also I don't know how many people know this but since I keep running into it when I talk about Pandora to other people I'm just going to throw it out there: if looking for obscure/ underrated things aside from thumbs up thumbs down the best way to do that on Pandora is to create a station and then go into the station details section and put in as many artists and song seeds as you feel necessary and fine tune it from behind the station. Side note add variety would be what you're looking for. Extra addition just thought of a band I realized probably not many people have heard of called "On The Drop"

Diamond in the Rough

Amen to that! And it's not just Pandora and it seems like every time they think they're improving something they're just messing with something we already liked, fixing bugs I don't have a problem changing the whole system we enjoy whole another matter entirely

Never mind couldn't delete that
