What are they? How long does a song have to be to be considered long for you?
Here are some of my picks (a few are obvious ones):
A Little Piece of Heaven by Avenged Sevenfold
Jesus of Suburbia by Green Day
Dance Yrself Clean by LCD Soundsystem
Stranglehold by Ted Nugent
November Rain by Guns N' Roses
Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd
Light My Fire by The Doors
Kashmir by Led Zeppelin
Master Of Puppets by Metallica
Phantom Of the Opera by Iron Maiden
Operation Ground and Pound by DragonForce
@HunterPandora I love your suggestions.
I usually prefer that songs last around 4 to 6 minutes; however, there are a few exceptions. The two that first came to my mind were November Rain (already included on your list) and Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin.
The Next Rap God (1&2) by DAX. It takes talent to be able to do a 10 and 20 min song that doesn't have chorus and rhymes. I feel like he set the bar high enough for everyone else to walk under it without hitting their head.
Though the fire and flames by dragonforce.
The ark and the tinderbox by the stupendium
@HunterPandora I love this post. Here are my favorites. So I'm guessing anything over 5 minutes is considered a long song because the avg song has a variance of 3 - 4 minutes.
Starting with my overall favorite, here is Foolish Games (LP Version) by Jewel. 5:41
1.) Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd. 9:19
2.) Stairway to Heaven (Remaster) by Led Zeppelin 8:03
3.) Kashmir (Remaster) by Led Zeppelin 8:37
4) When the Levee Breaks (Remaster) by Led Zeppelin 7:09
5). Hear My Train A Comin' by Jimi Hendrix 7:30
6.) I'm Your Captain/Closer To Home (Remastered 2002) by Grand Funk Railroad 10:00
7.) While We Cry (Live) by Kenny Wayne Shepherd 6:18
8.) Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd 6:22
9.) Time (2023 Remaster) by Pink Floyd 7:06
10.) On the Turning Away by Pink Floyd 5:42
I have about 20 more that are beyond 6 minutes. But I will end here. Enjoy the music.
Take care, and GOD bless.
