I will try and post one weird but true fact each weekday. Perhaps on a Saturday when I have some free time, like now.
In 2014, a missing woman on a vacation in Iceland was found when it was discovered that she was in the search party looking for herself. (Source is from bu.edu website)
Apparently she never considered herself lost.
Have a blessed weekend, take care and GOD bless.
Wow - that's amazing! I had no idea, @MOHLovesAlaska.
@AlyssaPandora I had the same reaction when I came across this fact. Thank you, friend, for your support and friendly reply. Have a blessed weekend, take care, and GOD bless.
Interesting fact:
The Challenger Class steam locomotive weighs 1,071,000 lbs (535.5 US Tons)
@Trainman_Man200, "I've always had a deep love for trains, partly because of my late grandfather, William Hempstead. He dedicated 25 years to the D&H Railroad before retiring, later continuing his career working for the city of Albany."
Have a blessed night, take care, and GOD bless.
Good Friday morning, friend.
Eventually, Hawaii will become similar to the Alaska Eskimos. Here is why.
Hawaii sits on the Pacific Plate, a tectonic plate moving closer to the mainland yearly. Because tectonic plates are always moving due to currents created by rising and sinking rocks, the island state is slowly moving. Although this may never happen in our lifetime, rest assured, it will in someone else's future. (Source comes from Five Weird Facts About Earth

Rubber bands will also last much longer in use when coated with glycerine....found by young men flying their balsa and tissue constructed model airplanes powered by "rubbers".
She a lucky person . I have been looking for myself for over half a century.
Have a great day all.
I am so glad I found this thread. It's a great way to spend some time on funny facts. Thank you MOHLovesAlaska for taking the time to look up these facts and share them with all us and brightening our day. Well at least you brighten mine.
I hope you a great day. It's all up to you.
@DustBast, thank you for taking the time to reply with your friendly reply. I also want to thank you for your support.
Have a blessed evening, take care, and GOD bless.
@DustBast and @KDG150, I want to say thank you for your support and interest in this post. Hopefully, this will spark your interest as well.
There’s a lake that explodes – Certain lakes in Africa, like Lake Nyos, have huge CO₂ buildups that can cause massive, deadly gas eruptions. On August 21, 1986, Lake Nyos in Cameroon released a large cloud of CO2, suffocating over 1,700 people and countless animals by displacing the oxygen around them. Scientists determined that CO2 had been gradually leaking into the lake, eventually erupting in a deadly release triggered by a rockslide. To prevent future disasters, engineers installed pipes to continuously degas the lake, significantly reducing the risk of another CO2 burst, but leaving the area still potentially hazardous. Hi everyone!
Did you know that the planet Uranus was discovered before Antarctica?
Although it may seem incredible, the planet Uranus was first observed and documented in 1781 by astronomer William Herschel, while the existence of Antarctica was not confirmed until 1820, when several expeditions sighted the frozen continent for the first time.
This is because, although some ancient civilizations theorized about the existence of a "Southern Land", the harsh conditions of the Antarctic Ocean and its remoteness caused its discovery to be delayed until the 19th century.
It's incredible that sometimes it's easier to discover what's out there in the cosmos than things on our own planet, sometimes the hostile environments of Earth like the oceans make our own home still unknown.
@amendez, great post, and very interesting one as well. Looking forward to seeing more of your posts.
Take care and GOD Bless.
Good Friday afternoon, friend. We have all heard about the dangers of hurricane winds hurling glass and other debris into the air, but have you heard about a planet doing that? Well, check out this weird and true fact, my friend.
There's a planet where it rains molten glass sideways. HD 189733b, a planet 63 light-years away, has scorching temperatures and vicious winds that hurl molten glass across the atmosphere. Imagine the weather forecast: "Fiery shards with a high chance of extreme discomfort." This super-hot glass rain is just one consequence of the proximity between the gas giant alien planet HD189733b and its sun. which causes daytime temperatures to soar as high as 1,700 degrees Fahrenheit (930 degrees Celsius), scientists said. Hi @MOHLovesAlaska
That's correct! Thanks for sharing that fact; I already knew about it.
In fact, astronomers say it's the planet with the worst climate discovered to date, in addition to its winds exceeding seven times the speed of sound, its infernal temperatures, and the glass that would liquefy our bodies...
The noise generated by those winds burst our eardrums and there were other consequences that I'd better not mention 😱
The universe may have some pretty terrifying places beyond our imagination, but it also offers beautiful sights like nebulas and stars that are best seen from our planet Earth ✨
Have a nice day, my friend! I hope that other people who read this post find these facts about the universe interesting 🌠
Hi @MOHLovesAlaska and everyone!
I'd like to share a fact about another very interesting and terrifying planet in our galaxy.
The coldest planet discovered to date is OGLE-2005-BLG-390Lb, but scientists have named it Hoth, in honor of the Star Wars planet.
The coldest temperature recorded on planet Earth, according to National Geographic, was -98°C in East Antarctica in the middle of winter.
But on Hoth, on a sunny summer day, the temperature is -220 degrees Celsius! 😱 ❄️
That is, a typical, sunny summer day on Hoth is barely 50 degrees away from Absolute Zero, the lowest temperature that can exist in the universe 😰
Good Friday afternoon, dear friend. Today I'm going to share 5 facts about Memorial Day, although these five facts may not be on the weird side I'm still going to share them here.
It was originally called Decoration Day. After the Civil War, people decorated soldiers' graves with flowers, leading to the name.
It may have started as a celebration of African American freedom. In 1865, formerly enslaved people in Charleston, South Carolina, held a ceremony to honor fallen Union soldiers, reburied them, and sang songs of freedom.
The red poppy became a symbol of remembrance because of a poem—Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae wrote In Flanders Fields after seeing poppies growing on battlefields during World War I. This inspired the tradition of wearing poppies to honor fallen soldiers.
Some families used to picnic in cemeteries—In the early days of Memorial Day, people would gather at gravesites to honor loved ones, sometimes bringing food and spending the day there.
The holiday wasn’t official until 1968—Despite being widely observed, Memorial Day only became a federal holiday with the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, which took effect in 1971. (source comes from How 'Decoration Day' Became Memorial Day | Military.com
Have a blessed Memorial Day weekend, friend, take care, and GOD bless.
Hi everybody!
Did you know that Cristiano Ronaldo gave his manager Jorge Mendes a Greek island as a wedding present? 😱 🏝
The estimated value of the island he bought is between 3 and 50 million euros.
I'm imagining everyone checking the Gift List, and while some had to give him a Rainbow vacuum cleaner and a toaster, Cristiano was so unlucky that the island was the only option left 😂

Good Wednesday morning, friend. Here is something that may elevate your interest in the animal world.
There's a jellyfish that can theoretically live forever. The species Turritopsis dohrnii has an incredible ability—it can revert its cells to an earlier stage of life whenever it faces injury or starvation. Essentially, it can restart its biological clock and begin life anew. Scientists have dubbed it the "immortal jellyfish," though, unfortunately, immortality doesn't protect it from predators. (Source comes from There's a jellyfish that can theoretically live forever. The species Turritopsis dohrnii has an incr...)
Have a blessed day. Take care and GOD bless.
@amendez Yeah not a lot of wedding gifts can top an island. 😅
But the vacuum and toaster would be useful in their new home on the island at least!
@MOHLovesAlaska Jellyfish have always sounded and looked very alien-like to me.
I think this proves it. 😂
