New Feature Idea: Create Rules about what bands you never want to hear.  If I select a Genre but there are certain bands I never want to hear, there should be a way to create a rule. i.e. I select the 70's Rock Genre but I never want to hear any music from Sting, Rush, Styx, Journey, Kiss, etc.  then allow me to create a rule eliminating them fron the selection algorithm.

Yo, Pandora,

Stop tinkering with the algorithms, add a block artist feature, and then continue working on the algorithms.

Back in the Aughts when I first listened to Pandora, its general algorithm was really good. When I returned after seven years during covid, I noticed at about the 2-3 hour mark, the station would spiral out of control. There was no rhyme or reason how it veered off course into a completely different genre. It requires a lot of tweaking to get it to not mix in utter, dissimilar music. I once had started with an electronic station that I had created and tweaked that would'nt correct course from the opera and opera-like songs that had begun to playing some 25 minutes prior.

And that there is still no artist blocking is either incompetence personified or a company with strange priorities. I was once a paying customer, and was considering an annual subscription again, but this is a dealbreaker.

Yeah I'm once again pleading to add an option to block a particular artist. I listen to a lot of soft instrumental radio to concentrate, and lately I'm seeing multiple "artists" who I suspect are actually AI. I do not want to hear anything under those fake musician names. It's now at about 4-5 in the last couple of weeks, and it's irritating. Thumbing down tracks is damaging to the station, because the works are intentionally styled after music I actually want to hear. Thumbs-down would potentially steer my radio stations away from what I want.

I agree! Ability to block a particular artist, song or station would be very helpful.

At my workplace (a hair salon), my co-workers and I use a shared Pandora account for salon music. Explicit content is blocked and we use the thumbs up/down feature to curate but it's not as effective as fully blocking.

I imagine a block option could potentially be a useful tool for parents, as well.

This post is going on 7 years old and is still a feature being strongly asked for. Come on Pandora, time to get it in gear and get this feature implemented.

Not only do I not want to hear from certain bands, I don't want to hear any artist covering that music. No Sting, no Police, no covers. None of it.

There needs to be a block artist feature. That's it that's the post.

I know we can remove individual songs but we should be able to blackball an artist too.  I can't stand Bruce Springsteen and I shouldn't have to down thumb every time one of his nauseating songs comes on!

I NEED a block artist feature, the artist Jim Funk pumps out ai slop music at high rates and it is plaguing my electronic music stations. It's all ai slop from him now

Pandora does not offer a direct feature to completely block or mute an artist. Instead, you have to use workarounds like giving the artist a thumbs-down, removing positive votes, or checking station seeds.

Managing Unwanted Music on Pandora
  • Give a Thumbs-Down: Tap the thumbs-down icon on any song by the artist you dislike to reduce how often they play on that station.

  • Check Station Seeds: Go to your station settings and make sure the artist or their specific songs are not added as a "station seed" or added variety.

  • Clear Positive History: Look at your thumb history to ensure you haven't accidentally given a thumbs-up to any of their tracks in the past, which overrides negative feedback.

Can someone at Pandora just explain in simple terms how/why this feature can't be implemented?

Pandora appears to be able to go, "hey, you said not to play that song - so I won't" and we're saying, "now do that exact same thing but apply it to the artist"

And somehow - many years later - here we are with Pandora going, "wow, I mean... maybe some day..."

And maybe it would make sense if I could go, "well sure, but they're so busy implementing all these other great features!" but if that's the case then where are THOSE features?
