Hearing out of place tracks on station

Martha-bun

I don't know if there's a newer version of this topic... The songs bleeding over to other stations is happening to me. Like another user, I'm thinking about canceling my subscription. Frank Sinatra & Benny Goodman show up on my Three Dog Night. Lots of bleeding between all of mine. I'm afraid to hit thumbs down in case it removes the song from the correct station.

Another problem is, I'm getting head-banging heavy metal, which I keep deleting, but it keeps showing up. Not good when you're playing the station for a bunch of people! It's offensive.

Pandora Update - 07/18/24:

Hi, everyone!

If you believe your station is playing tracks that are out of place, we'd be happy to help look into it further.

The next time that happens, please give the track a thumbs down and write us back with the following:

  • The name of the station you were listening to:
  • The date/time the out of place track(s) played
  • The name(s) of the out of place artist(s) on the station.
  • The title(s) of the out of place track(s) that played.
  • Were you able to give the out of place track(s) a Thumbs down?
  • Were you listening using a Pandora Mode like Crowd Faves, Discovery or Deep Cuts?

Also if possible, please grab a screenshot of the out of place track that plays, and send that in a reply to this message.

Thanks for the help!

I *did* take the time to respond. Took a bunch of screenshots & noted what played & when. No response back to me.

NO! I have premium. No commercials, & no difference. Stations bleed.

And, I keep hitting thumbs-down every time Ill Repute comes on, & it keeps coming on.

@Martha-bun I moved your new message back to the original post you created: Hearing out of place tracks on station

While I do not see any follow up screenshots from you after sending my reply back in March, I do see you mentioned the artist Ill Repute continues to play on your station despite thumbing down all of their tracks.

After reviewing your account, I can see the last track by that artist played on your Three Dog Night Radio station.

I can also see the out of place tracks are being pulled from an additional seed that you've added: Cherokee Nation by Ill Repute.

Here is a screenshot of where I am seeing the additional seed that you added to your station:

You can delete the bad seed by editing your station.

To delete that bad seed from a computer:

  1. From My Collection, visit your station list.
  2. Click on the name of the station you'd like to edit. This will take you directly to the station's "backstage page."
  3. Hover the mouse over the station seed you'd like to remove and select Delete.

To delete that bad seed from a mobile device:

  1. From My Collection, visit your station list.
  2. Tap on the name of the station you'd like to edit.
  3. This will start your station, so tap the the Thumb icon in the upper right corner of your screen to continue to the station's backstage page.
  4. From the station's backstage page, tap on the Edit icon (the small pencil to the left of the play icon) to edit your station, and scroll down to Station Created From.
  5. Remove this "bad seed" by tapping the small (X) beside that item.

Hope this helps!

Country in my ambient station, ambient in my country station

I have an ambient station. It it seeded with only ambient music (thumbs-ups are only ambient as well):

nothing but ambient.jpg

Several times today it has played country songs (and religious country songs, which is particularly odd because I don't like religious music):

country on ambient station.jpgmore country.jpg

This is occurring the other way as well, I keep getting ambient tracks in my other stations for music with lyrics. Why is this happening?

I switched from Discovery mode to My Station, but shortly after got more religious music with lyrics.

@eff-ewe Thank you for reporting this.

I do see some out of place tracks were getting recommended on your Brian Eno Radio station.

We made a small change which should now resolve that issue you are having with that particular station.

You also mentioned you are receiving ambient music on another one of your stations.

Here's an example of ambient music playing on my non-ambient (country & classic rock) station:

Screenshot 2024-07-03 111231.jpg

  • The name of the station you were listening to: Dover Radio
  • The date/time the out of place track(s) played: 03 July, 11:15 Central
  • The name(s) of the out of place artist(s) on the station: David & Steve Gordon
  • The title(s) of the out of place track(s) that played: Spiritwalk
  • Were you able to give the out of place track(s) a Thumbs down? Yes
  • Were you listening using a Pandora Mode like Crowd Faves, Discovery or Deep Cuts: Deep cuts

I also double-checked my "station created from" and "thumbs-up" list and there's nothing ambient on there.

@eff-ewe I took a look at your station, and can see that specific track you screenshotted was recommended by a seed that you've added: JCB by Nizlopi.

Hi Adam, thanks for the response. Are you able to share more about how JCB by Nizlopi relates to Spiritwalk? They sound totally different to me, and one has lyrics while the other doesn't.

I also recently heard on this station Humming Bird by Steve Gorn and Through the Mist, the Sage by Sayama. Each of these songs have vaguely Native American sounds, flutes, gongs, water, etc. In short, they're relaxing, nothing at all like the sound of JCB.

@eff-ewe Thanks for following up.

I will make sure to pass your feedback along to our curation team regarding the track JCB by Nizlopi.

In the meantime, I recommend removing that track from your station, as that is the current cause of the out of place tracks that have been playing.

You may want to try adding the artist Nizlopi as variety to your station instead to see if that brings in a better selection of music.

And of course, continue to give a Thumbs Down to tracks you don't want to hear on your station.

Thanks for being a part of the community!

I went to this station today and half the songs were pop rock music or music not from the 60’s like Chris Stapleton. Rick Nelson, Connie Francis, Del Shannon, the Beatles were not country artists? Who created this station?

Hi,

I'm listening to the Maverick City Music Radio (gospel music), and WHISKEY WHISKEY (feat. Morgan Wallen) by Moneybagg Yo started playing after a few hours. It's very it off place on this station, though it would make sense on another of my stations (or if I were shuffling this station and a rap station).

I saw that another user had a similar issue, and a moderator said the next time it happened, write in with the station, song, and following details:

  • July 19, 2024 at approximately 1:50 PM
  • I did successfully thumbs down the song
  • I was not listening on a special mode. It simply says, "My Station."

I also have a screenshot, as advised in the other response, but I don't see a way to post it here.

Thank you for working on a solution for this!

@Jagiine I moved your post over to this existing thread: Hearing out of place tracks on station

It looks like that track was recommended from this song that you gave a Thumbs Up to on that station:

  • Done For Me (feat. Adekunle Gold) by Fridayy

Screenshot 2024-07-22 at 9.42.56 AM.png

I recommend removing that track from your Thumbs Up list.

Hope this helps!

Absolutely wild this is still an issue in 2024. I keep getting country music even though I clearly downvote it. I'm getting ready to switch to spotify with everyone else. Get it together Pandora

It sounds like you are getting country music on a station it doesn't belong on.

The next time a country track plays on one of your stations, please give it a thumbs down and write us back with the following:

  • The name of the station you were listening to:
  • The date/time the out of place track(s) played
  • The name(s) of the out of place artist(s) on the station.
  • The title(s) of the out of place track(s) that played.
  • Were you able to give the out of place track(s) a Thumbs down?
  • Were you listening using a Pandora Mode like Crowd Faves, Discovery or Deep Cuts?

Also if possible, please grab a screenshot of the out of place track that plays, and send that in a reply to this message.
