Connecting accounts to Alexa

I have had a Pandora account as long as I can remember. I have had it tied to my Alexa devices for years and my family uses it daily. A couple years ago I upgraded to a family plan and created additional personalized accounts while leaving the original tied to Alexa. Recently there was an issue with8 renewing my subscription and my account reverted back to free with commercials. I immediately corrected that but now my "generic" account tied to Alexa is still playing commercials. I'm worried that if if I unlink it from Alexa it will be lost forever. It was originally tied to an old email address that doesn't exist anymore. I updated the email on the account but that is the same email I use for my personal streams in the family plan. The Pandora website and the Alexa app are both pretty bad when it comes to dealing with accounts. Any idea how I could get my generic Pandora account refreshed in Alexa without losing my years of customization? The only option in Alexa is to unlink the account.

Hi @SeanDC

I think I see what what has happened.

You created another Pandora account, and your original account that you had previously used still exists. In your post it sounded like you updated the email address on the same account.

This means you'll just need to add the old email address to your Family Plan.

I'm going to send you a private direct message here on community since I'll post some personal information that we aren't able to share in this public space.

Please be on the look out for this DM, it will appears in the envelope in the upper right corner when on web. Please note, you won't be able to reply to this DM through the email notification you may receive. This would best done through a computer web browser.

Thanks!

Hi @SeanDC

Welcome to community! Sorry for any trouble.

To clarify your post, you've updated an old email address that was associated with your Pandora account to a new email address, but that same account, associated with your Alexa, is still playing commercials?

Unlinking and linking your Pandora with your Alexa is the best way to proceed. Your music collection is saved through your Pandora account, so as long as your using the same account info when linking to Alexa, the content will remain the same.

Additionally, I did take a look at your Family Plan account and noticed that two family invites had not been accepted yet. I've gone ahead and manually added them to your plan.

@TannerPandora thanks for the response! My concern is that my original account is now updated to the same email address as my personalized account on my family plan. How are they differentiated when I go to re-link to Alexa?

@TannerPandora OK. So just as I feared I took your advice and unlinked the original account and I no longer have an option to re-link it. I wish I would not have done so. It will now only let me link the individual family member accounts. Please tell me there is some way I can fix this!
