Hi @visivas

Welcome to community!

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble with Pandora on cellular. To clarify, when you open the Pandora does it not open, or it opens but won't load?

If you haven't already, I would first try visit your iPhone settings, tap on cellular, and then toggle off and on Cellular Data.

I am also having the same problem. My pandora app will only work on wifi. The moment i try to use cellular in the car, the app will open but will not play the song. It just sits on the screen of the last song I listened to on wifi. I have tried deleting the app and redownloading it, logging out and logging back in, and reseting my network settings on my phone. At this point I am not quite sure what else to do.

Hi @haleymay, welcome to the Pandora community!

Can you explain what you are experiencing a bit further? I can see you mentioned that your app opens and after that is when you have problems, correct? After opening your app, do your stations load or does the app seems to be buffering? Does pandora closes back or just freezes on the now playing screen? Is it only happening when connecting to your car?

Also, can you tell me a bit more of your phone and how you se Pandora on your car please?

  • Can you please tell me the iOS version (Settings > General > About > Version) and the Pandora version (Pandora > Profile tab > Settings gear & scroll to the bottom of the screen) that you are using?
  • How is your smartphone connected to your car? (Bluetooth, USB, Aux)
  • Do you use Apple CarPlay?
  • What is your cellular company?

Let us know!

Started having similar problems about a year ago with the Mazda Entertainment Center/iPhone 14.  When I go from my house (where it's been on wifi) to my car (switches to cellular), it will resume playing the last song but then freezes with an "Insufficient Connectivity" pop-up on he Mazda display.  Usually takes about 5 minutes to fix itself.

One thing that occasionally will fix it is changing the Mazda audio source from Pandora to Bluetooth and back to Pandora after a minute or so.  But often it just goes back to the unresponsive state.

I've had this setup for six years but it started less than a year ago.  The FW on the car hasn't changed, the Pandora app and iOS updates.  I just think Pandora doesn't play well with iOS and the Mazda entertainment system.

Other drastic things I've tried to no avail:
- Closing and reopening Pandora
- Rebooting the iPhone
- Uninstalling/reinstalling Pandora

There's something buggy in the Pandora/iOS/Mazda interface.

Hi @jp98slk , welcome to the Pandora Community!

Thanks for explaining us, can you tell me a bit more about this please?

When you mention the "unresponsive state", are the controls or options greyed out? Or do they seem normal but nothing happens when selecting or pushing a button? Does it seems to be buffering or loading, or does it just freezes?

The problems started about six months ago.  Probably due to an iOS and/or Pandora update.  I use Pandora (on an iPhone 14)  outside the home, usually in my car through the Mazda Connect entertainment system or while walking with Bluetooth headphones.  Transitioning from home or work wifi to cellular is what starts the freeze.  For about the first five to ten minutes I get either:

- "Insufficient connectivity" on the Mazda display
- "Buffering... your music will return shortly" on the Pandora app
- A frozen display of a song stuck at 0:00 and unresponsive to controls

One trick in the Mazda that works about 20% of the time is to change the audio source from Pandora to Bluetooth for about 30 seconds (where it plays albeit with fewer available controls) and then switching back to Pandora.

Once in a while the app will go to an "Offlin" station meaning it gave up trying to acquire a signal and is just playing previously downloaded content.

Once the app stabilizes with cellular it works okay.  It just seems that the app has problems negotiating wifi-to-cellular signal changes.

The Mazda Connect firmware hasn't changed in over five years, some recent update in either iOS or Pandora triggered the issue.  Being in the industry, I know that iOS restrictions are more difficult to deal with than open source Android.

1 GB/s wifi service at home, AT&T 5G service in metro Los Angeles (plenty of coverage)

Hope this helps.

@jp98slk Thanks for providing that information.

I would like to report this issue to our engineers. Could you tell me more about your device?
1. Carrier:
2. iOS version: (Settings > General > About > Version)
3. Pandora version: (Pandora > Profile tab > Settings gear & scroll to the bottom of the screen)

Thanks for your help with this.
