Hi Chris, I am very new to Pandora and this is my 1st post. I am, Don Cropper, from South Louisiana. I am a retired x-IBM'er & United States Marine (Once one Always one as they say). I started writing Lyrics to Songs only 2 months ago in early June as I wanted to write a song to my wife for our upcoming 50th wedding anniversary (titled: Broken Marine). I had it written very quickly and used **** to produce the music and vocals for it. It was received so well by not only my wife but many family members and friends. In fact, it brought tears to the eyes of many of them and also, even more surprising to me, a couple even shared with me how it helped them with their current difficult situations in their lives. So encouraged I was to know my songs helped others I just kept on writing because it came so easy to me, not to mention it was very enjoyable as well. As easy as it is for me to write story-telling style lyrics to songs (typically the base song only takes me 15-30 minutes to get on paper once it pops in my head) the real time-consuming part is getting **** to perform the vocals & music the way I think it should be. That part typically can take 4-5 hours of tweaking before I have what I consider a worthy song others might enjoy listening to.
In this short two-month period I have written and produced 30+ Songs that now appear on most major Music Service websites. I am in the waiting period for them to appear here on Pandora.
I am pleased to be here - actually at my age I am pleased to be anywhere! Below is my Artist Bio:
Don Cropper
Some songs are written to chase the latest trend. Don Cropper's songs are written to preserve memories.
Born and raised in Louisiana, Don draws inspiration from the people, places, traditions, humor, and life experiences that have shaped him over the years. His music blends the sounds he grew up with—Swamp Pop, Cajun, Doo Wop, Soul, Rock, Country, Folk, and Zydeco—into original songs that tell stories with heart, nostalgia, and a touch of Louisiana charm.
Whether remembering the excitement of Tiger Stadium, celebrating the unique culture of South Louisiana, honoring the pride and traditions of the United States Marine Corps, or simply capturing everyday moments that deserve to be remembered, Don writes from personal experience and a lifelong love of storytelling.
His songs are filled with colorful characters, hometown memories, faith, patriotism, family, laughter, and the kinds of experiences that connect generations. Each recording is an invitation to step back in time, smile, reflect, and remember the people and places that leave a lasting mark on our lives.
After a lifetime of collecting stories, Don has begun sharing them through music so they can be enjoyed not only by family and friends, but by anyone who appreciates honest songwriting and melodies inspired by the rich musical heritage of Louisiana.
Welcome, and thank you for listening.
