Good Friday afternoon, music lovers. Today I will be adding three songs to today's post and Playlist for GSOTD. The first song is brand new this year, and the last two come from arguably the best decade of music, the 1980s. Enjoy the music. Electropop/Indiepop/ambient music/cinematic pop: Where Is My Mind by Ruelle. Ruelle's cinematic and atmospheric cover of the original song by the Pixies. Ruelle's version transforms the track into a haunting, ethereal experience, emphasizing deep emotional resonance through her signature electropop and indie pop sound. Written by Charles Thompson (aka Black Francis) and originally performed by the Pixies. Notable Features: The track has been used in various film and TV soundtracks, adding to its emotionally evocative nature. synth-rock/soft-rock/power ballad: Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now by Starship. It was released in January 1987 as part of their album No Protection. The song was inspired by Albert Hammond’s personal life, specifically his marriage after a long-term relationship. It conveys a determined, feel-good message about love overcoming obstacles. It was the theme song for the 1987 romantic-comedy film Mannequin, starring Andrew McCarthy and Kim Cattrall. The song became Starship’s third No. 1 hit, topping the Billboard Hot 100 and several international charts. It was nominated for Best Original Song at the 60th Academy Awards, marking Diane Warren’s first No. 1 hit. World music/Art-pop/Rock: In Your Eyes (2012 Remaster) by Peter Gabriel. Originally released in 1986 on Gabriel’s album So, the 2012 remaster enhances the clarity and depth of the original recording. It features Senegalese singer Youssou N'Dour, who provides additional vocals toward the end of the track. Inspired by an African tradition of ambiguity between romantic love and spiritual devotion, Gabriel’s lyrics explore themes of connection, transcendence, and emotional depth. Have a blessed weekend. Take care and GOD bless.
