Pandora has not been forthcoming. Not about the cause of the problem, timelines for a fix or even whether they anticipate being able to fix it at all. In July 2024, five months after @MusicFan78989 opened a ticket and a thread, I queried @AdamPandora for a status looking for something more substantial than " Our engineers are working on it". We got a reply from @AlyssaPandora saying....(in essence) "Our engineers are working on it, we have no updates nor a timeline for a fix." July 2, 2024 And then silence and somewhere along the way i got a notification that this uninformative status from staff was being marked as a solution. Thus I'm opening this new thread as I expect the original is now not reviewed by Pandora staff because it is marked as having a solution. The evidence for this is that there has been an absence of engagement by Pandora staff since. This is in spite of more than 25 subsequent additions to the thread by subscribers asking for help and/or updates. ... and just silence in return. TL;DR Voice commands do not work, Pandora does not respond to the original problem statement. Subscribers are progressively getting more upset with the lack of substantive engagement from the company. @AdamPandora @AlyssaPandora What updates can Pandora offer now? After more than a year this is a very reasonable request. It begins to look as if the problem is beyond Pandora's capacity to fix. Is this the case? (If yes, it's a bit unfair to subscribers to infer engineers are working on the problem) If any progress has been made, is there a timeline available to a fix being deployed? Is Pandora able to describe the root cause of the problem?

Additional data part 2. I returned from my trip. For the duration of my time in Michigan the voice assistant worked when I was on wi-fi. This includes two homes and one coffee shop (1 in Detroit, 2 in Petoskey - about 3.5 hrs by car from Detroit). Now that I am back in the tri-state area (NY, CT, NJ) pandora voice assistant on wifi stopped working again. So.... two categories of problem. Pandora voice assistant not working on cellular networks. Regardless where I'm located. Pandora voice assistant on wi-fi not working in NY, CT, NJ but working on multiple wi-fi networks in Michigan. At home: For cellular, I'm a Verizon customer. For internet access (wi-fi), comcast aka xfinity is very ubiquitous with Frontier being 2nd. Is everyone having this problem located in the Northeast? Is there anyone experiencing the problem that is: Not on verizon? Not on comcast/xfinity? Not in the northeast? Trying to identify our points in common.

Additional data. Pandora voice commands do not work for me on cellular or wi-fi connections in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey ... neither on wi-fi nor on cellular. I am in these states regularly and so have tested this across dozens of wi-fi locations and likely hundreds of different cell towers over the last 8 months. I'm traveling now. In Michigan, Pandora voice commands DO WORK for me on the wifi of the home I'm staying at. Discovered this, this morning. In a little bit, I'll repeat the test at a coffee shop. If I disable my phone's wi-fi (here in Michigan), Pandora voice commands once again become inoperable. TL;DR - Pandora voice commands work for me in Michigan on at least one WI-FI. They never work for me in New York, Connecticut, or New Jersey. August 19, 2024

@AdamPandora Would it be fair to get a status back from the company posted publicly here? With at least 5 months of troubleshooting efforts under their belt, Pandora must know the problem source - even if a solution is not yet available. When we on the customer side of things just have silence for months, it undermines confidence. A status update would be very welcome. Something more than a generic "our engineers are working on the problem". Thank you.

@MusicFan78989 I have added my voice to the chorus and created a ticket. I pointed back to this conversation in the ticket. S21 Ultra, Android 14. Cleared cache (both app cache and cache partition) and uninstalled/reinstalled. It's worth noting that the behavior is the same whether you say "Hey Pandora" or instead touch the microphone button (it goes to listening for your command mode but nothing happens). I suspect that "hey pandora" is processed locally in the phone and that's why that works to activate the listening but that the actual directive commands (play Lana Del Ray, etc) are uploaded to their service for voice processing. This leads me to believe the problem is either in the transmission of the command to pandora servers or the commands are getting transmitted successfully but the software on the pandora servers is failing. It could be something as simple as a blocked port on their firewall - but that should have been found and remediated very quickly. Pandora the company should note that this is a bit of a safety issue as many of us use voice commands while driving in preference to using the touchscreen.
