I'm on Android using the app and it unpauses all the time. During the day I can live with it but I'm sick of being woke up by this app
@Rink0009 Thanks for the follow up. I will add your update as we still have this internal ticket open with our engineering team. 🎧
This afternoon my phone turned itself on and started playing Last Train to Clarksville by The Monkees on the Pandora app. A few minutes later I found out Michael Nesmith had died. Did Pandora do this on purpose or is my phone haunted?
Even with the app completely closed out, I still get the little notification with the play, pause, and skip buttons. Often, it will actually go as far to start playing music. This is frustrating because it uses up my mobile data. The only way to get Pandora to stop playing using the drop-down notification (since the app isn't even open) is hit play (unless it's already playing), then pause the music (if you had to play it), then swipe the notification away. The whole time, the app never shows up in the open/running app page. Even if it does, swiping out/closing the app doest stop it.
Super frustrated and enjoyed using Pandora from my phone but if this keeps happening I might need to uninstall it 😕
@goeye @goeye Can you please make note of the date and time the next time this happens?
Once that is noted, please let me know along with a little more info about your device:
Are you connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data when this is happening?
Have you identified any other patterns or notable information?
Let me know what you can find out.

I've had this same problem for at least a couple years. What I noticed several times is that after using the app in my car via bluetooth, when my phone plays a notification (from an email or text being received,) Pandora resumes playing afterwards. I had this issue with the first Pixel phone, and now I have a OnePlus Nord N10 5G and the same behavior exists. I also got the OnePlus N200 and it does it as well. Both are on Android 11
Pandora version: 2112 (ANDROID-TUNER 21121009)
I tested this theory using a BT speaker on both phones but it doesn't trigger Pandora playing again. I think it's only when it's been connected to the car via BT (not Android Auto.)
If I can figure a way to reproduce the issue I'll post it.
Kiran
Hey, @Kiran. 👋
Thanks for posting about your experience. I know this issue can be frustrating, but we appreciate you taking the time to provide those details.
I will share this with our engineering team on the internal ticket we have open. 🎧
The Pandora app on my Google pixel 6 and also my Samsung S9 begins playing music at random times when the app is closed. I have to go in, open the app, then stop playing it and close from there. It does it randomly about once a day.
Hi, @Tplummer3. 👋
Thanks for posting about your experience on your Android devices. Looks like you've also been in touch with a member of our User Support team via email.
In the meantime, I can add your information to the ticket we have open with our engineers.
Would you mind sharing these details?
Thanks for your help with this. 🎧
Lol Ikr i was in parole and wew not to have no phones on us and it started playing music
I just did this, before finding this article and... IT WORKED!!
Sure a simple thing that I think most forget about
Thank you 😊
No problem at all, @nanette7fl. Glad to hear those steps helped.
Feel free to let us know if anything else pops up. Happy listening! 🎧
Why is this listed as resolved? From what I can tell reading this thread, there has been no resolution at all, and the listed fix is only temporary. I run corporate meetings for a living, and this is a massive problem, when it goes off in the middle of a show and I am using my tablet on the show. Or when it goes off in my bag overnight and I come into work with a dead tablet battery. I have a Lenovo tab 4, and also use Pandora on my phone, which is an HTC desire 20 pro. On every device I use this app, I have disabled autoplay, yet also autoplay happens every single time I launch the app, on any platform. Get this fixed!
@Madrooster7 I recommend running through the following troubleshooting steps: Troubleshooting for Android Devices
If you continue to experience issues with this, I can add your information to the ticket we have open with our engineers.

I had to cancel my subscription today
This issue is not solved: https://community.pandora.com/t5/Android/Android-Pandora-Starts-Playing-After-Being-Closed/td-p/6282...
After being woken up for 4 months in a row, at seemingly random times each night, we've had enough. We'll be using Spotify for all of our music needs.
It's unfortunate because I've been a pandora subscriber for the past several years. Such a simple problem with a simple solution: do not autoplay music when I have autoplay turned off. Still, the dev team can't seem to figure it out after multiple years. Goodbye.
I had the same problem as Justdab. He didn't ask the correct question. The question isn't how to disarm the app it is WHY DID IT START PLAYING ON IT'S OWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT? This is really annoying. My phone was plugged in charging on our kitchen and it started playing on it's own at 2:22 am. I unlocked my phone, the app should show controls at the top of the screen when it is in use but nothing was there. I swept part way up to show open apps and nothing again. I had to launch the app and it showed it was playing. I hit the pause button and swept up on the app to kill it.
Just before I wrote this I exited my car and when I got into my house Pandora started playing on its own. Same as the previous time, Android didn't show that the app was open I had to launch the app and press pause.
Could this have something to do with the fact I was using Android Auto so that is controlling Pandora?
