Android: Plays at Launch with Auto-Start Disabled

harasnicole

Hi, I'm having a similar issue, only I have autoplay turned off. Every time I close down the app and reopen it, songs still start playing automatically, and I just want it to stop doing that.

I have an LG Velvet 5G, and the app version I have is 2110.1, if that helps.

Thanks for sharing those details, @iamnowfnd.

I've gone ahead and shared this with our engineering team. As I mentioned, they are working on this and hopefully it will be resolved soon. Thanks for your patience. 🎧

Happening here too, but "They are working on it" feels like complete BS. The issue has been going on since at least Jan 2021, almost 18 months that I can find on this forum. I used Pandora once with Android Auto and now every time my phone connects Pandora takes over. I force stop the app and it reloads during the same drive. I guess the real message is to uninstall Pandora and use a competitor's app. Done being frustrated with this.

Just wanted to report the same issue.  I not only have Auto-start and Auto-play turned off, I'm not sure I ever had them turned on in the first place.  And yet, when I launch the Pandora app it never fails to resume playback of the last song I listened to, before I have a chance to stop it.

I just tried it on my device and it works. The last song did not auto start and now see the setting in Advanced.

Thanks for fixing this!

Will do. Thanks again for fixing it. Makes the app so much easier and better to use.

Any chance we can get the SXM channels streaming on the Pandora app? That would be nice.

@iamnowfnd Pandora currently features select episodes of SiriusXM shows in a podcast format. These podcasts can be found in the For You section (through our mobile app) or Browse (through our website and selected devices), and will have a SiriusXM banner in the artwork.

Check out the full list of available podcasts on Pandora.

However, I think this is a great feature suggestion / request. Feel free to create one if you'd like to see this option implemented here: Feature Requests

In the meantime, the only thing close to your idea is this suggestion: SiriusXM and Pandora Combined Subscription

This update appears to resolve the issue for me.

Yea, seeing the SXM content on Pandora made me think of adding the channels.

It's one of the reasons I like using the Iheart app. They have streaming channels that show the playlist.

well, this bug looks to have been fixed with that update.  sadly looks like this version broke permission prompting.  I'll see if there is a thread for that yet

and yup, here is a thread on the permissions:

Whenever I open the pandora android app (or even webpage in browser), Pandora automatically starts playing music. Music just starts playing. How do I change it to start playing music ONLY when I press play?

I don't want an app that starts blaring music when I open it. What if I'm at work and just want to see what music is on Pandora? Open the app, music starts blaring.  Terrible. It has prevented me from using Pandora over the years.

Hi there, @CellNetwork. 👋

Thanks for your post and your feedback.

Auto-Launch from a Web Browser:

When listening to Pandora from a web browser, this isn't a feature. For more information about how features work on the Pandora Community, feel free to check out: Feature Request Policy & FAQs

Android Setting:

With Android devices, this is an available setting. I moved your post over to this existing thread as it's a known bug other community members have reported: Android: Plays at Launch with Auto-Start Disabled
